Number 1884a in the Carpenter Family in America Book of 1912.

NOTE: There was a conflict on this line whether or not his father Benjamin was of the Rehoboth or Providence Carpenters.  In October 2008 Y-DNA research on a descendant indicated a 22/25 marker match with the Rehoboth Carpenter line.  Critical markers do not match Providence but Rehoboth. JRC

Number 9097-d of the Carpenter Memorial on page 765.
Strangely the following partial note is added in the CM.
Nicholas, No. 708. the grandfather of this family; died in Waterboro, Me. in 1822. He was the first settler in North Waterboro. which was then called Massabenic Plantation and settled all of his sons except Benjamin near him. John. his eldest son, No. 1765, was born in 1761 : died Oct. 1, 1848 : he married. 1st. Mary James of Kennebunk, Me., who died in July, 1848 ; he married, 2d, Hannah Hill and had four children. He is father of the foregoing family. The family do not appear in their order. ...
The note is describing info the father of Mary and Nicholas is the grandfather. I believe the separator from first family to second is missing here.
