He served in the Revolutionary War in Captain Bacon's Company, Eleventh
Regiment in 1776 and also was at New York the same year; He enlisted from CT.
He also enlisted in Brigham's Company, Eight Regiment on 28 Apr 1777
for eight months and was discharged 1 Jan 1778.  Name of spouse not listed.
Could his wife be named Roxanne?

It is possible that Israel's third child Eunice belongs to Benjamin.
She was conceived in the first part of Jan 1778.
Pending further information she remains with Israel.

734. Asa Carpenter

Number 457 on page 98 in the Carpenter Memorial.
Family listed on page 178 and 179 (#189).

Asa married twice.  First to a Dunham then second to Eunice Parker.  He first
went to East Haddam, CT and then to Sharon, VT where he probably died July 10,
1801.  A farmer.   There is some speculation he married his cousin Eunice (#450
in the CM).  Marriage to Euncie would have been abt April 1789.  It is
possible that several of Eunice's children from a previous marriage became
Carpenters, but at this time it is only speculation.  Those children in
question are Asa (#1216), Chauncy (#1218) and possibly Saxton (#1217).
Until further info comes forth, children are listed as in the Carpenter
Memorial.


2014. Saxton Carpenter

No Family listed.  He married a Lucy Korkings.  He moved to Sharon, VT.


Eunice Parker

Eunice Parker may have been born as Eunice Carpenter #450 in the Carpenter
Memorial on page 98 who married a Porter.  She probably died between 1795 and
1801.

He was a farmer and one of the grantees of the town of Chittenden, Rutland
county, VT, March 16, 1780.  He served in the Revolution.  He "turned out
from Coventry for the relief of Boston."  He was a representative in the
Legislature of VT in 1786 and 1787.
His wife, while he was in the Revolutionary War, sowed upwards of eight acres
of grain, because she could not obtain help.

Mrs. Eliza Carpenter Burnham.
James Carpenter marched from Coventry to the relief of Boston in Maj. Thomas
Brown's company, and subsequently enlisted in Col. Ebenezer Allen's
regiment. He served two terms in the
Legislature, and died at Sharon, Vt.

esteemed for his medical skill and benevolent Christian
character. His second wife, Anna Macy, was a woman of rare
accomplishments and many Christian graces. Shortly after his
second marriage he removed with his family to Ghent, N.Y.; about
this time, he was moved to join the society of Friends and
became an honored member of that religious order, adding to his
wide usefulness as a physician, the freely giving the ministry
of a preacher among Friends.  His wife was one of unusual
benevolence, being widely known in both medical and religious
relations as a friend of the poor and needy.  His family says

one death and the other burial?

Thanks for the information. There appears to be several doctors in the
Carpenter tree. In a book called , A Historical Sketch Of The Town Of
Scituate, R.I., published by Phenix Capron & Campbell, Steam Book and Job
Printers, 1877 they cite "Dr. Cyril Carpenter, in that part of Situate
now Foster, lived in the later part of the last century, and from him
descended two generations in the healing art: his son Thomas and his
grandson, Thomas O. Carpenter, a skillful doctor of grate promise, who
died early".

He was the only son of Thomas by his wife Mary Chandler and grandson Thomas
Dresser and Sarah Seaver.  He was a farmer and resided in Pomfret, CT per the
Carpenter Memorial on pages 99 and 100.

He was administrator of his father's estate per Cumberland Records.  He was one of the town council from 1769 to 1772 of Cumberland.  He was representative in 1724, 1729, and 1733.
NOTE:  IGI has marriage in Rehoboth, Bristol, MA AND Cumberland, Providence, RI.
Children:  3 chidren listed in the Carpenter Memorial (1898).
