Notes

1044. Cornell Carpenter

Number 1705 in the Carpenter Memorial with family listed as # 1616.
Birthdate listed is the same as his brother Thomas, indicating Twins.

1045. John Carpenter

Number 1704 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 244.
Family #560 on page 409.
Son of Cornell or Colonel Carpenter.

2841. Lydia Carpenter

Number 3640 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 409.

2842. Elizabeth Carpenter

Number 3641 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 409.

1047. Samuel Carpenter 4th

Number 729 on page 132 of the Carpenter Memorial. Family on page 248 and 249.
Per the CM he apparently married twice. But this is wrong. All children are from his wife Keziah Carpenter. See CHILDREN comment below.
The CM has a marriage date as 2 Jan 1741 (this is clearly wrong) on page 93 and 14 Feb 1742 on page 132. AF has marriage date as 14 Feb 1741. See MARRIAGE info below for clarification.
Death year might be Aug 1758 or 1753 as listed per handwritten notes in my CM copy. It is likely in error. It clearly is not 3 Aug 1753, since that is his father's death date. See DEATH below.

John,
Thanks for the feedback.
Now that you’ve corrected Samuel and Hannah’s respective dates of death (#281), you’ll want to delete them as dates of death for their son Samuel and his wife Keziah (#997 ), to whom they are still attributed. As I had indicated, the latter couple’s son Samuel was born in 1757; his parents, Samuel and Keziah, therefore lived until at least 1756 and 1757, respectively. I’m unable to find a death or cemetery record for either of them, but since their son Samuel remained in the area, it’s likely that his parents did, as well. You might look for a will or estate-administration record for Samuel (Keziah’s husband), and/or one or more guardianship records, in case he died leaving minor children (of course, he may have lived for many more years). Any of these would be found in Pomfret Probate District records.
Gene

Keziah Carpenter

Number 397 on page 93 of the Carpenter Memorial.  Married Samuel Carpenter
number 729 of same record.  Family on page 248 and 249.

MARRIAGE:
Per Gene Zubrinsky,"Samuel married in Rehoboth, Mass., 4 or 14 Feb. 1741/2, Keziah Carpenter; Rev. David Turner officiated (James N. Arnold, Vital Record of Rehoboth, 1642-1896 [Providence, 1897], 81; Pomfret Vital Records [Barbour Collection], 33).”
See also husband's notes regarding marriage.

DEATH:
The death date of 23 Jan 1752 is for her mother in law. She died sometime after 1757.
Per Gene Zubrinsky, Since it’s possible that Keziah died during or soon after delivering son Samuel, on 24 May 1757, her date of death should be “aft 24 May 1757” or “aft 1756.”

http://www.usgennet.org/usa/vt/town/westminster/family.html#goold
CARPENTER
Amos Carpenter lived in Westminster, then called No. 1 and under a Massachusetts charter, in the Spring of 1751. There were only two houses in town at the time --- one which was built by Richard Ellis and then unoccupied, and another, the one Carpenter shared with William Goold, John Goold and Atherton Chaffee. John Averill and his family arrived in the Spring of 1751 and moved in with them. During the following summer, he and the Goolds brought their families up from Northfield. The house, whose builder is unknown, was "at the lower end of the street" "at the top of Willard's Hill" He established his own home and lived on Rocky Hill in Westminster. The farm was sold in 1776 to James Richardson. Amos then moved to Rockingham, Windham Co., VT. The farm, according to the plan of Westminster was Nos. 8 and 9 in the first range of 80 acre lots. The farm was later (ca1870) owned by Clark Whitney.
Amos was listed on 1771 Census of Westminster. He was a mill-wright and a blacksmith. He was called "ingenious." Amos served in the American Revolution in Major Day's unit in 1780.
