including 1830, 1840, 1850 and 1855, and in the Troy Newspaper Indices.

There are gravestones for BROWN, TUCKER and CARPENTER located in Potter Hill
Cemetery which is located on the old FRANCIS CARPENTER homestead, owned in 1966
by Amer Brenensthul.  This property adjoined the HEWITT property, which is the
old LaBaron farm.

Margaret Tucker

MARGARET'S obit appeared in the April 27, 1827 Troy Sunday Budget
(pg.3,col.5).  Other members of the TUCKER family are interred in the burial
site. She died age 29, 11 mo., 20 days.

Lucinda Brown

LUCINDA was the daughter of NATHANIEL and ABIGAIL (STANTON) BROWN.  NATHANIEL,
a Revolutionary War soldier, drew a pension; his will is recorded at Troy, N.Y.
He and ABIGAIL are also buried in the Potter Hill Cemetery.

Had at least two children.  JOHN was the son of GARRISON and CATHERINE
(HARTLIN) HAVILAND.  The HAVILANDS were early Friends in the Pittstown area,
where the Monthly Meeting was under the auspices of the Easton Monthly Meeting.

Morning all,
I came across this obit that may be interest to others. It was posted in the
Star Beacon (Ashtabula, Ohio) on November 11, 2000. Gladys is my great aunt,
and by all means if you tie in, I'd like to hear from you. NOTE: I will be
capitalizing the surnames. The obit was not written that way.
Gladys L. PERKINS
   Ashtabula- Gladys L. PERKINS, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at her
home.
   The daughter of John and Myrtle (CARPENTER) PIERCE, she was born April
8, 1918, in Paulding County. She was an Ashtabula resident most of her life.
   Mrs. PERKINS attended Saybrook School, and was a Beeline fashion stylist
in her younger years, and was active in the First Church of God since 1942.
   Survivors include her husband, John, whom she married Nov. 14, 1942; six
sons: Robert, James, Gerald, and William, all of Ashtabula, Charles of
Zephyrhills, Fla., and Thomas of Jefferson; six daughters: Marlene SHAFFER,
Myrtle HAMRICK, Evelyn BEEMAN, and Rebecca JEFFREY, all of Ashtabula,
Lucille MRACEK of Geneva and Cynthia KEYES of Conneaut; 38 grandchildren; 31
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers: Ancil of
Alabama, Garold of Texas and John Jr. of Florida; and twp sisters: Maida
TINGLEY of Geneva and Dorothy CRISLIP of Ashtabula.
   She was preceeded in death by four sons: Ronald Sines, Timothy, John M.
Jr. and one in infancy; one grandson; two brothers: Lewis and "Ted" Harold;
and her parents.
   Sevices will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Church of God, 1910
South Ridge West, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Virgil BRAINARD officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
   Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524
Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
   Contributions may be made to First Church of God.

Buried in the Potter Hill cemetery, east side of Babcock Lake Road, Hoosick.
The cemetery is now referred to as Shuler Ground Cemetery.
Charles and his family are mentioned in the 1855 census of Hoosick.  There is
supposed to be "much data" available on this family but the compiler of the
above record was never able to obtain it.  See T.C. book.
According to the 1855 census, Charles had been a farmer for 12 years.
Elizabeth is referred to as "Betsey" and on her gravestone is inscribed, in
error "BERSEY".  The gravestones were in poor condition in 1969.

Age 9 in 1855 census.
The cemetery is on the west side of Babcock Lake Road and is on a bluff by a
sand and gravel pit, directly across the road from the one where her
grandfather, Francis (61) and other members of the Carpenter family are
interred.  Gravestones were in excellent condition in 1969.

Benjamin's marriage is recorded in the Troy (NY) Newspaper indices.  Sally's
two children by her former marriage were adopted by Benjamin, but retained
their true names, according to the 1855 census.

One record indicated OLIVER resided in Ellicott Twp., Chautauqua Co., N.Y. at
one time.  Town records give his death as above, but his gravestone gives Dec.
20, 1859 at age 54 years, 9 months.  His will dated 12-28-1859 and probated
1-25-1860, is on file at Mayville.

Gravestones were in fair condition in 1968.  There is no actual evidence of
CYNTHIA being interred there.  The caretaker told C.L. Carpenter (compiler of
the T. Carpenter book) that in years past a wagon load of gravestones had been
carted off to construct a private home walk.  This cemetery was in a state of
being restored.  Some stones were covered with sod, but the above compiler
tried to uncover those in the vincinity of the OLIVER CARPENTER burial site.
There were numerous stones piled in the corners along the edge of the cemetery.

Number 208-4 in Timothy Carpenter book.  At least two sons, born in Ellery,
Twp., N.Y.  Spouse's name unknown.
The 1835 Ellery Twp., census shows TIMOTHY'S family consisted of 3 males, and a
female.  There is a slight discrepancy between his birth date and his
gravestone inscription; in 1965, the compiler (of the above book) found this
stone lying down and inbedded in sod, as were other stones.  It was otherwise
in fair condition.  Died age 31 yr., 1 mo., 8 days per gravestone.

The 1835 Ellery Twp Census shows Timothy's family consisted of 3 males and a female. There is a slight
discrepancy because between his birth date and his gravestone inscription; in 1865 the compiler found this
stpone lying down and embedded in sod, as were other stones. It was otherwise in faitr condition.
No further information on the other males and the female.
