Sarah E. Carpenter Slocum is recorded in the above referenced 1850 US Veteran, Chemung, NY Census; the 1860 US Veteran, Chemung, NY Census records her as a domestic with the David R. Tift family; in the 1870 US Veteran, Chemung, NY Census she is a domestic with the James Vanduser family; the 1880 Big Flats Census referenced above records Sarah as the (2nd) wife of Daniel Slocum and mother of Mary A and Julia M. Slocum - Mary Carpenter is recorded as Daniel's mother-in-law; in the 1892 NY Census for Big Flats, Chemung, NY, Sarah and Daniel are recorded living together. I find no further reference to Daniel or Sarah, however she is buried in Watkins Glen, NY (Greenwood Cemetery) in the same plot as Della L (Lattin) Carter and Elnora L. (Lattin) Kenyon and next to the plot of the George E. Lattin family (G. Lyman Lattin, George Edward Lattin and Sarah's daughter - Mary A. Slocum Lattin).

Mary A. Slocum Lattin's 1949 obituary states that she "was born at Big Flats on Feb. 10, 1871, her parents being Daniel and Sarah Slocum."
