Solomon is a Aramaic-derived surname and given name; Sol as a given name is usually a form of "Solomon". Its Hebrew form, Shlomo is related to the word shalom ("peace");[1] and is often chosen in part as a reference to the well-known King Solomon mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. (The Arabic name سليمان, Suleiman or Sulayman, also meaning "peace", is regarded as equivalent to Solomon, and the Islamic prophet Suleiman and King Solomon are generally regarded as accounts of the same person.)

John, ...
Just for your information, I haven't found any evidence that Solomon C Carpenter b.1829 went by "Saul". Also, he didn't die in 1907 as the grave marker for "Saul" states since Solomon was in the 1910 Winn Parish Census living with his son, William Alexander. ...

25587. Elizabeth Carpenter

She married a Rudd, but she is buried in the Cockerham cemetery?

COMMENT:
She may have married a Rudd but I have not found any evidence. Also, I noted your comments on a Carpenter buried in Cockerham Cemetery. Maybe she was a Cockerham instead of a Carpenter that married a Rudd? I am not sure where Joshua Johnson got the information for the Find A Grave record in the Cockerham Cemetery. I know that the information provided that Peter C was a half sibling is not correct. He was her full sibling. Elizabeth is in her father's household in 1860 and 1870 but I haven't located a 1880 Census for Solomon or Elizabeth.  I think this might require more research and it would help tremendously to find the 1880 Census records!

Death: 9 Mar 1899 (aged 95) Mobile County, Alabama, USA
Burial: Unknown, Specifically: Possibly in Hinton Cemetery, but unproven

Memorial #: 157867159
Bio: James was born in Montgomery County, North Carolina to Solomon and Elizabeth Poer Carpenter. He was the youngest of three other siblings, Cynthia, Samuel Alexander and David Marcus. At some time during the 1840's, he moved to Perry County, Mississippi along with other Carpenter relatives.James met and married Martha Elizabeth Hinton, the daughter of William Riley and Martha Jane Everett Hinton on 27 Nov 1849.A farmer by trade, he managed to care for his wife and growing family in that little community in Perry County.According to the Federal census taken in 1860, he and Martha had moved the family to Port au Pines, Alabama where he continued to farm. Family legend was that he moved to Mobile county near his brother Samuel Alexander Carpenter.Following the death of his wife, Martha, his younger daughters, Martha and Georgianna, moved in with their maternal grandparents. His sons, Henry and John, remained with him and helped on the farm. He was still farming into his 70's. He may have moved back to Perry County to be near his in-laws since they were taking care of the younger daughters.
