Deaar Mother is sleeping so free from all pain;
O, Wake her not, sweet spirit, to suffer again.
She slumbers so peacefully, O let her sleep on.
Her, sickness is ended, her troubles all gone.
Oh, think what she suffered, so feeble with pain.
Through the long weary hours we soothed her in pain.
Ti God in his mercy, sent his messenger of love.
And took her from all pain, to Heaven above.

This letter has Byron Carpenter 30 Oct 1856-10 Nov 1937 at age 81 in 2001 and dose not mention his Daughter Susie. Who wrote this Ltr or what year? In the 1860's census he was living with his parents at age 3, in 1870 census he was 13, in 1880 living with his brother David age 23, in 1900 with Wife Rebecca Ann Conrad/Burden, in 1910 widowed living with daughters Susa, and Ehtel,but his name was mispelled Baron Carpenter and so was Susie's. In 1920 it shows him living with his Daughter Susie and Charles Melvin Mathais 1881-. This is strange, because after 1900 Susie married Harry Frank Strayer, of which he died of diebetes. She might of went back to Charles after his death. In the 1930 census it shows his daughter Susie married to Orie Deardroff. Byron was my GG grandpa. Cotton Top(David Lee Burk(Burke) 1958- living) my Indian name was given to me by Dad, because my three older brothers had dark hair, mine was blonde.
