17919. Wellington Jeffers Carpenter

See image: RIN 25075 Wellington Carpenter note.jpg
This is a handwritten note from Wellington to his family regarding his ancestry.

From: John Carpenter

Thanks, John - ... From the numbers you provided, your database likely includes other descendents of Wellington Jeffers Carpenter. Wellington's children were Luther (by his first wife, Minnie Culver Westover) or Alice Louise (son in law was Wyant J. Williams Jr. of Connecticut). Wellington and second wife Nancy Charlotte Cochran also had two sons: John Brock Carpenter II (my grandfather) and Theodore Augustus, a doctor in Weston, ON, who was childless. I have attached a note that Wellington wrote to his family, early in the 20th Century. (See image note above) OBTW, Wellington Jeffers Carpenter was not named after the English General, but rather for a local popular Methodist minister in the Simcoe, ON area named Wellington Jeffers. Rev. Jeffers was apparently a rising star in the Methodist church in the mid-19th Century, because he spent the later part of his career as editor of the Christian Guardian, the Methodist newspaper of Ontario.
... Best regards, JEC

27810. Theodore Augustus Carpenter

A doctor in Weston, ON, who was childless.
