Obituary
On Tuesday, January 23rd, at his residence in Foster, occurred the death of one of our most respected citizens, Elmer E Carpenter, aged 37 years, 6 months and 18 days. Mr. Carpenter was born in Cedar county, Iowa, June 29, 1862, where he spent his boyhood days, coming with his parents to Pierce county, Nebraska in 1886. He moved to Box Butte county in 1888, returning the same year. He was married to Amanda D. Peed on September 12, 1889, and has since resided in Foster. Deceased leaves a wife and four children, his father, mother, four brothers and three sisters who mourn their loss. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the community. Mr. Carpenter was an upright and energetic citizen, greatly respected and highly esteemed by all who formed his acquaintance or had business relations with him. The community is which he lived showed their high regard by electing him to offices of high trust, be proving faithful in each instance. Funeral services were held at the family residence Thursday, January 25th, Rev. F. P. Wigton, of Osmond, officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Plainview cemetery under the auspices of the Foster Camp of Modern Woodmen of America, an order of which he was valued and esteemed member.

Carpenter, of Foster, who died of consumption. She leaves four children to mourn the loss of a devoted and loving mother.
