Notes for Charles Carr Carpenter:
1880 Census: Stockholm in father's household.
1900 Census: In Wausaukee, Marrinette Co, WI. He is listed as a "day laborer". He
is 29, his wife- Emma- age 23 and two sons, Charles E and Walter V.
1905 State Census: Still in Wausaukee, his occupation is now listed as a "cedar
cutter", Emma and two sons present.
1910 Census: 4th Precinct, Hennepin, MN: Charles occupation is listed as a "house
carpenter", he is 38, Emma is 33. Children present: Charles (13), Walter (11),
daugther Meril (4), and his mother-in-law, Mary Lindberg, age 75 is also living with
them.

From Elizabeth (Carpenter) Eggers book....."Charles was a farmer. He stayed on
the farm for a number of years and helped his mother with the farm after his father's
death. Charles and Emma were later divorced....."

Children of the marriage were: Clarence E (1896), Walter V (1898), Elsie
(1901-1901), Merle M (1905).

listed as a farmer, age 29. Emma is 27. One child - a daughter, Elithe - age 1.
1905 State Census: Frankfort, everyone present and new child - a son, Lisle, age 9
1920 Census: Breckenridge Precinct, Perkins, South Dakota: Charles is listed as a
farmer.
1930 Census: Back in Frankfort, Pepin, WI: Charles is 58 and a "general farmer".
Emma (46), Elithe (21), and Lisle (18) are still in the household.

1900 Census: Etta had passed away the year before, we can find her husband in
this census in Round-Up Precinct, Yellowstone Co. Montana. He is listed as a
widower, his occupation is listed as a "horse-breaker", and he is originally from
Alabama. (Son Riley is living with sister, Nancy Cora.)

From Elizabeth (Carpenter) Eggers book: Two children of this marriage, Harold
Riley (1897 - Montana) and Marguerite (1898 - Montana). Both married and had
children of their own, where they grew up, I couldn't find records.

1900 Census: Plainview, Wabasha Co., MN: With husband Charles (25), he was
born in MN, his father is from Scotland, his mother from England. He is a farmer
and Martha is 23. There is a son in the household, age 1.
1905 State Census: Plainview. It looks like they are in some sort of boarding house,
Charles is listed as a farmer (30), Martha (28), one son and one daughter.
1910 Census: Plainview. Three children present as well as sister-in-law Myrtie and
a "hired man", William Irish.
1920 Census: Plainview: Charles, Martha are living in twin sisters' household,
Marion and Myrtie. Charles is listed as a "manager" of shipping.
1930 Census: Plainview: Charles is 55 working in creamery, Martha is 53 and there
are no children listed in household.

From Elizabeth (Carpenter) Eggers book....." Charles R Greive was a very
successful farmer most of his life until his retirement. After retirement he managed
the feed department of the Plainview, MN Creamery, until his death. Martha was a
housewife and very active in church work. Charles was also secretary of the
Wabasha County fair until it moved from Plainview and he was also a member of
the Independent Order of Odd Fellows...."
Children of the marriage are: Cyril (1899), Marjorie (1900), and Gerald (1908)

1920 Census: Rice Lake, Barron, WI: Age 36, listed as a printer. Wife, age 23 -
name not listed.
1930 Census: District of Columbia: George is age 47, listed as a "printer" for the
United States Government making $6800.00/year. Wife, Lillian is 32, son Keith V is
8 and one boarder. Clarence Dahl (34).

George is buried at Arlington National Cemetery (see Interment papers). Listed as a
mechanic, 1st Calvary, Headquarters Troop, USA.

From Elizabeth (Carpenter) Eggers book..... "George was a printer by trade. He
served in the Army in World War I and after his discharge he worked in the printing
office in Washington D. C until his retirement. His wife Lillian also worked in the
printing office....."
One child of his marriage: Keith V (1921).
