The west and southwest portions of Victor were not settled until about twenty years after the eastern and southeastern sections, and a number of the settlers here were from the Mohawk valley country.
Jonathan Culver came in 1801; Increase Carpenter in 1808 ; Roswell Murray in 1810; as also did Stephen Ellis and Elston Hunt. Murray's wife was sister to Brigham Young, the Morman leader.
Other early settlers in this locality were John and William Ward, James M. Campbell, Abijah Covill, Ezra Wilmarth, Samuel Dryer, James Wilmarth, Deacon Sheldon, and James Potter.
In the northwest part of the town is located the railroad station and post-village called Fisher's, and so named in honor of Charles Fisher, who settled here in 1817.

I hope this is what you are looking for John.  I hope I was of some help to
you.  I would like ordinance info on The Carpenter's  down  to Anna Carpenter,
and then through the Maria Wood line listed above.  I'am not asking for much
Ha! Ha!.  Really John, send whatever would be the most easiest for you and I
can sort it out myself, that is the least that I could do.  You have been such
a tremendous help to me.  I am ETERNALLY grateful for all you're help, so are
my ancestors.   If you like I could send you my GEDCOM also, but I think it
would probably be more than what you are looking for.
Thank you so much!!!!

John,
Thanks again for your prompt response.
...
I will contact Laura Weaver as she is clearly my cousin through Maria Wood & Joseph Lee Robinson. We also share their son, Oliver Lee Robinson, as an ancestor.
My line is through Oliver Lee Robinson's first wife, Lucy Maria Miller (1837-1877.) Their son Loren Jay Robinson (1859-1942) marries Sarah Elizabeth Richards (1862-1925). Their daughter, Rhoda Richards Robinson (1882-1949) is my grandmother. She marries my grandfather, Joseph Peterson (1878-1935.) Rhoda and Joseph Peterson left Utah a few years after my dad was born in 1910.
I’m very impressed by your DRAFT document. Shows a lot of hard work.
Janice

From the book, "History of Waukesha County, Wisconsin" published in Chicago by the Western Historical Company MDCCCLXXX (1880) - See page 800.
BENJAMIN CARPENTER, retired farmer; born Sept. 80, 1794, in Orange Co., N. Y. Married, May 10,. 1815, to Miss Jane Keen, daughter of Capt. Keen, a prominent merchant of Orange Co. Although but 20 years of age at time of his marriage, he had previously served one year in the war with England; his regiment was stationed at Harlem Heights. They came West in 1845 and settled on farm in township of Brookfield, Waukesha Co. Mrs. Carpenter died in 1866; she was the mother of eleven children, only four of whom now survive; the four are married and live in four different States. He was married in March, 1868, to Mrs. Naomi Barnes, who died in October, 1873, without issue. He sold the main farm in 1868, and lived on a small place near the Junction till 1876, when he removed to village of Waukesha, where he now resides. In Brookfield, he served several terms as Justice of the Peace. For the last twelve years he has not taken an active part in business. He married his last wife in September, 1874; her maiden name was M. G. McCourdy; she died in 1875. He owns a comfortable corner residence on West Side, near the stone schoolhouse. He now lives with a family who rent his house. Although 86 years of age. he is still smart and cheerful.

Subject: [WIWAUKES] Re: Benjamin CARPENTER
Date: 8 Aug 2003 Is this the Benjamin Carpenter referred to in the "Little House in Brookfield"? I imagine you could start with the plat maps for this time period -- I seem to recall that Carpenters are listed early on. Mine are put away for now and I'm not in a position to pull them out, but I am sure the Waukesha County Historical Society would look them up for you. "The Carpenters lived two houses away from the Quiners, and they were Caroline's favorite neighbors. Father and Mr. Carpenter had settled in Brookfield at the same time and helped clear each other's land and build their log cabins and frame houses..." This family had a son Charlie -- Mrs. Carpenter was named Sarah, according to the book.  ...
REPLY:
Calhoun Road is East of Brookfield Road. I recently looked up the land records for the Carpenter family for another researcher on the 1873 plat maps. They lived in Section 34 and 35 in the town of Brookfield. Calhoun Road divides the two sections. I believe there were Carpenters also across Greenfield in the Town New Berlin.
Opps ...
Sorry -- I meant to say Brookfield Road just north of Greenfield Avenue. At that time, I think Greenfield Ave. may have been called Arcadia or Arcadian.
Comment:
Thank you Penny and Gene for the information. While I believe this Benjamin is an ancestor of mine, it is not the Benjamin Carpenter I am looking for information on. The Benjamin I am looking for had a wife named Mary and several children: George and Elvira (believed to be twins), John, Barnard, Amelia, Irena, William and Ellen. They came to Waukesha probably from Dutchess County, New York c 1850.

Subject: RE: Carpenter Family Question
John,
...
Just yesterday I found the Waukesha Freeman newspaper archives online and found this Death notice in the Waukesha Freeman newspaper December 18, 1884 pg. 8 column 2. Carpenter – At his home in Waukesha, December 16th, Benjamin F. Carpenter, aged 90 years and three months. Mr. Carpenter was a veteran of the war of 1812 . . . The funeral takes place today at (5):00 o’clock pm. That answers his death and burial dates. In the December 11th issue of the Waukesha Freeman pg. 4, column 4, there is an interesting article about Benjamin Carpenter. Apparently about a week before, it actually says “on Tuesday last” another newspaper The Sentinel erroneously reported the death of Benjamin Carpenter. Unfortunately neither one of them gave any family information. Now I need to find a copy of The Sentinel to see what they said.
Thank you again for all of your help with my questions and for the great work you have done and continue to do on the Carpenter family.
Glenene

Hi John:
Alas, I cannot provide more info on Alfred C. buried at Laurel Grove
(except I shall soon have a photo of my daughter in front of the
mausoleum!).  I can tell you that it is an impressive structure, and cannot
be missed as one drives aroung the "loop" running through Laurel Grove.
Also, it is very near to the gravesite of Samuel B. Carpenter
(8/8/1828-4/3/1871) and Phoebe Knight his wife (7/27/1835-10/18/1913).
Near ... but not seeming part of same family plot.
