Harley married Mabelle Vivian
Waible, of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Apr. 27, 1918. He established an
Electrical supply store in Meadville, whtch is operated by his wife and
sons. He also had a franchise for an olectrical line which supplied
the rural section of Crawford Co. He died July 1, 1960. She was born
June 22, 1893, and lives at 494 Chestnut St., Meadville, Pa.

The following obituary was provided by FindAGrave contributor Kathleen B:
The funeral service for Harley DeForest Carpenter, a pioneer in providing electricity in rural areas, was held Sunday in Meadville. Mr. Carpenter, 76, died at his Meadville home early Friday morning, after three years of failing health.
Rev. Dr. Bruce L. Middaugh, pastor of Stone Methodist Church, Meadville, officiated at the service at the Waid Funeral Home. Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
Mr. Carpenter was widely known for developing electric utilities in rural areas before larger companies entered the field. He began in 1912 in the Conneaut Lake area. He opened an electric shop in Meadville in 1906 and remained in business there ever since. He was the sole owner of Carpenter Light and Power Co., which serves four boroughs and 10 townships. Mr. Carpenter was also a partner with his three sons in an electric wholesale store at Erie.
Mr. Carpenter was born April 25, 1884, in Blooming Valley, the son of LaMartine and Mary A. Davis Carpenter. He graduated from Meadville High School and attended Allegheny College. He had 38 years of perfect attendance in the Rotary Club, and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, the Masonic Lodge 234, the Erie Consistory and Lodge of Perfection at Oil City and for many years was a member of the YMCA board of directors. He was a member of Stone Methodist C h u r c h , Meadville Country Club, Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club, the Round Table and Sons of the American Revolution.
Mr. Carpenter is survived by his wife, the former Mabelle V. Waibel, and three sons, Harley Jr., Paul and John Carpenter, all of Erie. Also remaining are three grandchildren and a brother, Albert William Carpenter of Meadville.

Maybelle V. Carpenter, 101, formerly of 494 Chestnut St., Meadville, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died there Sunday, April 30, 1995. She was born in New York, N.Y., a daughter of the late Martin and Ethel Zimmerman Waibel.
Mrs. Carpenter had been married to the late Harley D. Carpenter Sr., who died June 30, 1960. He was founder of the Carpenter Light and Power Co. in Crawford County and wholesale and retail electric supplies stores in Meadville and Erie.
She had worked in New York for Gust Weibel Ladies Clothiers. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church in Meadville, the Womens Club, the Meadville Garden Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Eastern Star, Philo-Methesian Club, the Iroquois Club and Country Club.
Survivors include three sons, Harley D. Carpenter Jr. of Meadville, Paul L. Carpenter of Erie and John H. Carpenter of Conneaut Lake; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
Friends may call at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul R. Borneman Jr., pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Greendale Cemetery.

five grandchildren.  She was an avid gardener of both vegtables and flowers.
She worked hard on the dairy farm.
She was married to William Joseph Roha and met him while working for an old
german family in town (Dreitleins) as a cook.  He was a young milk man whom she
later fell in love with.
William was a successful dairy farmer on Titusville Road in Meadville, PA.  He
delivered milk to retail customers in town.  He is listed as #153.
