Guy Franklin Wood was the youngest son of David M.D. Carpenter and Elizabeth Simpson Carpenter. As a young man, he opened a grocery store in Millry which he ran until his death. He married Florence Zolene Wood on July 24, 1902, and fathered four children - three daughters and a son. At the age of 43, he contracted pneumonia and died.

Florence Zolene Wood Carpenter was the fifth of seven children of Dr. John Wesley Wood and Mary Williamson Wood. She attended Normal School and became a teacher. On July 24, 1902, she married her third cousin, Guy Franklin Carpenter. After marriage, she ran a hotel for "drummers" (traveling salesmen) in the early 1900's in Healing Springs, Alabama. She and Guy had four children - three daughters, Daisy, Annie Mae, and Ruth - and the youngest, a son - Charles Winston Carpenter.
Upon Guy's death in 1923, Florence went to work at Searcy Hospital in Mt. Vernon, AL, as a storekeeper to earn the money to pay the debts incurred by her husband's store. After 11 years, she returned to Millry where she boarded teachers and ran a farm.

Princess Parizada Jordan of Chatom, died Friday at a hospital in George County, Miss. She was 95. Jordan was a homemaker and a member of Springhill Baptist Church in Chatom.
Survivors include a son, Howard Jordan of Harper, Kan.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service at Springhill Baptist Church in Chatom.
Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Chatom. Arrangements are by Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom.
