Hello John,
I hope this email finds you very well across the pond.
Could you please let me know what your relation to Lillian Amy Carpenter ('Amy') b1894 d1984 in Rockhampton Queensland Australia is and whether you're in touch with any of the descendants of either her siblings or direct relatives of her parents, Edwin Carpenter and Margaret Gray?
picture  ----> See image: RIN 32686 Amy Carpenter Graham.jpg
Amy was raised in Allenstown QLD and married Edward John Graham ('Ted' Graham, b1892 d1948). They had no children.
Father Edwin Robert Carpenter (b1855 Melbourne VIC d1932 Rockhampton QLD) mother Margaret Gray (b1857 Donolly VIC d1939 Rockhampton QLD), family home was in Fitzroy Street Rockhampton

A  quantity of documents, Amy's schoolbooks, personal & family correspondence dating back to the mid 1800's has come into my possession in my capacity as chattels auctioneer for the person who bought Mrs Amy Graham's house in Rockhampton in 1980. They are all in remarkably good condition considering the often harsh climate & humidity here.
If you could help me find the most direct descendants of any of Amy's siblings, or failing that those of her husband, I would be extremely grateful.
Rather than consigning them to sale or local museum we thought we'd try to return them to the family instead if possible. As paper they are simply that, however as heirlooms to pass down the generations they would I'm sure be quite priceless.
Kind regards,
Martin Fisher

Dear John, That is incredibly helpful - thank you so very much! I'll get in touch with Margaret as soon as poss and let her know you've helped. Strangely, with this place being so England-centric in its history, very few consider immigration from the US in the 19C as part of their ancestry.
I do hope to complete this particular circuit and play some small role in bringing this branch of the the Carpenter family's history to life.
