I have been doing family research and have a found Cheryl Rozanne Richardson Monaghan who was the mother of Crystal Laveta Merritt. Cheryl Rozanne was the daughter of Pearl Eugene Carpenter who was my great uncle. His father was Ezra Carpenter. Ezra's last known where abouts was Sedan Kansas in the 1870 census. I am trying to find Ezra's father.l Ezra was born in New York in 1838? Pearl Eugene Carpenter was born Feb. 17, 1875 in Sioux City Iowa and died Sept 22, 1950 in Harrah. I think he was Crystal's grandfather. Do you know anything about these people? Do I have the right Border Ray Merritt. Could there be two people with that name? Would you email me if you have more information and would like to share that with me?

John,
Still waiting on the DNA results on my dad (Pearl Eugene Jr). As it
turns out the timing for doing the DNA was good - as dad passed away on
Jan. 19.
Thought I'd let you know for updating your records.

John, As sad as I am at my dad's passing - there were things that fell in to place in the weeks before his death. He had not seen his older sister, Anna Lilac in 13 years and she came to Florida from Colorado over New Years to visit for a few days. My brother who also lives in Colorado was here for dad's birthday 2 days before dad's passing. I was taking him for an endoscopy when he passed in my car - which although was traumatic it gave me much more control than if he had died an hour later on the table having the procedure. It just so happened that on the way out of the house that morning at 6 am, I happened to grab his living will that had my appointment as his health care surrogate attached. That allowed me to keep the EMT's from doing their thing which was the very last thing dad would have wanted. And - he did not die alone. So - all in all - he lived a good long life and I think he was ready to go. I miss him terribly but know that he is doing just fine. I do regret that he did not live for the DNA results - he was very much looking forward to that. Please do post his name and FTDNA number - that would be wonderful. If you are interested - here is a link to his obituary. Thank you for your condolences. Shelley
