Subject: De Witt Carpenter
John,
I've been told that the Rev. De Witt Carpenter wrote a several-page
document about the history of the Carpenters that also included some
information about one of the Carpenter reunions held in Chautauqua
County New York in the late 1800s. Are you familiar with this document?
Sorry for asking so many disjointed questions. The part of my current
research is a work in progress and isn't complete enough to have much
organization to it yet.
Thanks.......
Marjorie

Viola Lucille Pilling

Viola was a daughter of Henry & Emma Pilling.  One record says there were wed
at Matthews Run.  She had three sisters and a brother; Sarah, Martha, Ellen
Pearl, Etta & Edmond.  A niece note (re D. Carpenter) records that Viola had
one of the sweetest voices ever heard, but refused to study opera, even with
her exquisite purity and good range; she said she would use her voice only for
the Lord.  Her gravestone was in good condition in 1966.
