She attended both rural and town schools at Fedora, graduating from high school there in 1931. She attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., and Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D., where she received her South Dakota State Teaching Certificate. She taught three years in the Fedora and Howard, S.D., areas before moving to Rapid City. She was married to Robert A. After Robert's death in 1950, Myrna continued her education at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D., where she received her B.S. in education and art. She continued to teach in the Rapid City area schools for many years. She attended numerous workshops and summer schools at Black Hills State while working towards a master's degree. Myrna married William V. Coyle Aug. 8, 1953, and took an active part in the faculty wives club of South Dakota School of Mines & Technology where William was Civil Engineering Department Head. She was also named Outstanding Member of the American Association of University Women. After retirement, she remained active in all of her club activities. Myrna was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church. Myrna was a trendsetter in both education and art. Her gentle nature and friendship touched the lives of many. Death: Dec. 14, 1912 Methuen Essex County Massachusetts, USA Albert F Carpenter Oct 26 1869 - Dec 14, 1912, and Willie T Carpenter 1876 - 1883 son of John T and Hattie A. D. Powell Carpenter, Died 7 yrs 2 dys The parents of Alfred P Carpenter were John T Carpenter and Hattie A. D. Powell. The Chichester Annual Reports from the mid 1800 to late 1800's did NOT include vital statistics. However I did find a listing for Dec 14, 1912, Methuen, MA, Death of Albert P Carpenter, 43.1.16, son of John T Carpenter and Hattie A.D. Carpenter. The Carpenter's disappeared from the Chichester records in 1935 with the death of Robert A Carpenter. Further investigation in the Pittsfield records will likely bear additional fruit.
