Jeanne R. Daniels

NOTE:
On her husband's 1918 Draft Registration card dated 12 Sept 1918, she is listed as being in France. DId she die there? Did they divorce? Yes.

Comment from Harry W. Carpenter via email on 27 Jan 2015.  <  thegeniewithin@roadrunner.com >
Jeanne had two boys about a decade after she and my dad were separated, Dewitt (age 91 in 2014) and Anthony. Plus, she was living in NY and France during that time. Yet my dad is credited with the boys on the birth certificates. Hummm. Jeanne was a very resourceful person with a lot of pull.

John,
My name is Heather Stiebs (nee Miller), Clara (Carpenter) Miller was my great-grandmother. I have tackled other sides of my family tree, but this year I have started working
on our “Carpenter” side of the tree. Elizabeth (Carpenter) Eggers, who would be my great grand-aunt published the Genealogy of the Carpenter-Quiner families. Though it has
been a good resource to spring-board my research, it is not complete and seems to be filled with some general mistakes.
I can, with certainty, take us to Wilkins Carpenter (Newburgh, New York) there the line starts to get murky…. I believe his father was Nehemiah Jr then up to William of Rehoboth,
but with a lot of misinformation online – I can’t really find, with enough certainty to make me comfortable, what I need to establish this line. I’m not sure if you can be
of any help, but I thought I would reach out to you on the chance that you could be.
Our general family (Carpenter) comes from the Minnesota/Wisconsin area with a move back and forth to Florida.
What I “believe” our line to be:
Clara Carpenter – her father, Joseph Quiner Carpenter. (When young, traveled down the Mississippi River to Florida with cousin Peter Ingalls and friend Pearly Wilder – met, married Elizabeth Reese while in Florida – then eventually made their way back to WI/MN)
His father, Charles Carr Carpenter….. (married Martha Jane Quiner – sister to Caroline Lake Quiner – mother of Laura Ingalls (Wilder) – in fact, three Carpenters married three Ingalls in this generation…..)
His father, Wilkins Carpenter….. this was the last of our line to stay in the New York area. He died fairly young and his widow (Mellisant Watkins) remarried a Nathaniel Lockwood – they moved to Wisconsin (Concord, Jefferson, WI). Mellisant had three children with Wilkins before his death; Pheobe (married and stayed in New York), Charles Carr (settled in Pepin, Pepin CO., WI), and Verdine E (who also went to WI, but later died at Lake Providence, Louisiana during the Civil War).
(this is where I start to question the line……)
His father, Nehemiah Jr…….
His father, Nehemiah
His father, Solomon
His father, John…
His father, William of Rehoboth
His father, William of England
If you can be of any help OR point me in any direction that would help, I would appreciate it. I saw that the CD you were selling is all sold out, otherwise I would be interested in a copy.
If you could contact me at your earliest convenience to let me know if you could help or if you can’t I would be really grateful.
Thank you,
Heather (Miller) Stiebs
