Bio: According to his granddaughter, he was a railroad engineer, and was killed along with his fireman and two others when his engine went off a flood-weakened bridge and into Lorne Creek during a heavy rain with flooding.  All four were washed away; Jack Carpenter was never found. Only two of the victims appear in the British Columbia death index: Sylva Joseph Mayer and Otto Thom.
