Thomas was a 1922 graduate of Dartmouth College.
Thomas Sanders Carpenter, Jr., age 39, one of the most highly esteemed residents of Crescent City, died last Friday in St. Vincent's Hospital, Jacksonville, following an illness of long duration.
The deceased was born in Attlesboro, Mass., and was a graduate of Dartmouth University, where he was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity.
During his residence at Crescent City he was engaged in citrus fruit growing and was at one time president of the Crescent City Citrus Exchange, and was always active in horticultural circles. He took a real interest in community civic affairs, being a member of the Rotary Club and the Crescent City Chamber of Commerce.
He served one term as the district member of the Putnam County Board of Public Instruction. He was a vestryman in the Church of the Holy Comforter at Crescent City.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas S. Carpenter of Crescent City; one daughter, Jane, and two sons, Thomas S. III and William, of Crescent City, and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Beers of Hartford, Conn.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Episcopal Church at Crescent City, with Rev. Drank Dearing officiating.
Interment was in the Crescent City Cemetery. (Palatka Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 31 Mar 1939.)

Bio:
Francis Newton Carpenter of Delray Beach, Fla., a former Greenwich resident, died Monday, Nov. 27. He was 95.

Mr. Carpenter attended the Collegiate School in New York City and Williams College, and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia.

He served as a captain in the Second Infantry Division during World War II. He was president of Shulton International and chairman and chief executive officer of Westey Associates.

Mr. Carpenter was active in retirement as president of the Gulf Stream Bath and Tennis Club, president of the board of trustees of Gulf Stream School, and a member of the Vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He was a former governor of the Apawamis Club in Rye, N.Y., and the Gulfstream Golf Club, in Gulf Stream, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hayward Carpenter; three sons: Edward Brewster Prindle, Francis Newton Carpenter and Timothy Knowlton Carpenter; two daughters, Patricia Carpenter Carey and Hillary Carpenter Lynch; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 188 S. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach.

An additional service and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, at Christ Church, Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice by the Sea, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486.

Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, Delray Beach, is handling the arrangements.

Suzanne "Barbara" Hayward Carpenter of Delray Beach, Florida, and formerly Greenwich, Connecticut passed away peacefully on December 28, 2014.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Barbara was a long time member of the Rye Twigg and Greenwich Hospital auxiliary.
She is survived by her children Hilary Carpenter Lynch, of Village of Golf, Florida, Patricia Lathem Carey of Darien, Connecticut, Edward Brewster Prindle, of Seattle, Washington, Timothy Knowlton Carpenter of Darien, Connecticut and Francis Newton Carpenter, III of S. Barrington, Illinois as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral celebration will be held Sunday, January 4, 2015, 2 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 188 S. Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida.
Funeral/internment will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2015, 2 PM at Christ Church Greenwich, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
