Smith hospital Sunday morning. He had been seriously ill for some time and his death was not unexpected. Hew as about 47 years of age.  Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon. The member of the Masonic Lodge conducted services at the grave.  The Carpenter family moved to Gentry 37 years ago, where the father, I.W. Carpenter was one of the first merchants of the new town, just opened up on the new Kansas City & Southern Railway. His sons, Ross, Roy and Ray were taken into the business, which later developed into one of the largest and most prominent business houses in Benton County.  Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. I.W. Carpenter, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Carpenter, a son, Dale, two brothers, Ross and Roy, also by three sisters, Mrs. E.E. Freeman of Kansas City; Mrs. Emma Westonhauer, Reedsburg, Wisc. and Mrs. Laverne Stillman, Biloxi, Miss. OBITUARY—Ross Carpenter
Funeral services for Ross Carpenter were held Friday. Oct.. 8, 1965, in the Protestant chapel at the Veterans administration Center in Wadsworth, Kan.. with Chaplain Lawrence L. Selin officiating.
Burial was in the V.A. cemetery at Wadworth, under the direction of the J. C. Davis Funeral Chapel, with military rites at the graveside.
He enlisted in the Army July 11, 1917 at Joplin, Mo., and received an honorable discharge April 11, 1919 at Camp Zackery Taylor, Ky. During his time in the service he ranked as a cook and was in the Medical Dept. Battalion.
He became a Christian in 1935 under the ministry of Irene Dillworth. He lived a consistent christian life.
His wife, Mattie Phipps Carpenter, preceded him in death Nov. 6, 1962.
Surviving are 2 children, a son, Ralph Carpenter, Aliquippa, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Moore, Gentry: a step-daughter, Miss Helen Phipps, Los Angeles, Calif.: a sister. Mrs. Addie Still-man. Biloxi, Miss: two nephews, Dale Carpenter, Gentry, and Lauren Freeman, Kansas City, Mo.

She was born at Rhea's Mill April 13, 1890, and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Gentry. Survivors include the husband, Ross, of the home; two daughters, Miss Helen Phipps, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Howard Moore, Gentry, and one son, Ralph C. of Aliquippa, Pa. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Gentry Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Yell Cemetery near Robinson, under direction of Wasson Funeral Home.

At the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Corwin Hirschinger, at noon Monday (November 5) took place the
marriage of Miss Gertrude Louise Hirschinger to Floyd Carpenter, Rev. C.E. Weed performing the ceremony.
The couple was attended by Miss Marie Carpenter, sister of the groom, and Robert Hirschinger, brother of the bride.
The bride was gowned in white georgette crepe and carried carnations, and the bridesmaid wore lisle green batiste.
After the ceremony and congratulations a wedding dinner was served, the immediate families only being present.
The couple left in the afternoon for Canada, and will come home by way of New Orleans. On their return they will
reside on the Carpenter farm west of town which he recently purchased from his father.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Corwin Hirschinger, and the groom is the son of Assemblyman and Mrs.
George Carpenter, and is well known in this section of the state. He has been manager of the celebrated Carpenter &
Carpenter Shorthorn herd of cattle, which he has exhibited at all the big fairs of the country, taking many prizes.

Floyd Carpenter, 80, died December 30 after a long illness. For many years he was a well-known Baraboo feed and
grain dealer.
Survivors include his wife, the former Gertrude Hirschinger; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Schult of Milwaukee and
Mrs. Frank Wing of Madison; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Marie Haugh of Manitowoc; and many friends.
Preceding him in death were two grandsons, and a son-in-law…Funeral services will be held at the Hanson Funeral
Home Monday afternoon, January 2, with Pastor Stratton of the Assembly of God Church officiating. Friends may
call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Tuesday, April 1, 1986
Mrs. Gertrude Carpenter, age 89, died on Monday, March 31, 1986, at the Villa Clement Nursing Home, in
Milwaukee, where she had been living with her daughter. Mrs. Carpenter was born on Oct. 9, 1896, to Corwin and
Anna (Luebke) Hirschinger. On Nov. 5, 1917, she was married to Floyd Carpenter.
She had been a life-long Baraboo resident, and a member of the Baraboo Assembly of God Church where she served
as a Sunday school teacher and piano accompanist. She was formerly a resident of the Magdelene Home and the
Sauk County Health Care Center.
Two daughters survive her, Dorothy Schuldt of Milwaukee and Mrs. Frank (Alice) Wing of Madison. She is
survived by eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Frank Wing; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ethel
Hirschinger and Mrs. Marie Haugh; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Carpenter; three brothers, Robert, Carl and Phillip
Hirschinger; a son-in-law, Robert Schuldt; and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in the Baraboo Assembly of God Church.
A visitation will be at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Walnut Hill
Cemetery in Baraboo.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make contributions to the Baraboo Assembly of God Church or the Mission
Fund…

Mrs. Julia Prouty Dies Suddenly
Mrs. Julia E„ Prouty, 76, of Spring Green died of an apparent heart attack at her home on Wednesday evening, May 23, 1973.
The former Julia Carpenter was born March I, 1897 at White Mound. Her family moved to a farm near Spring Green in 1908. She graduated from Spring Green High School in 1915 as valedictorian of her class.
On Jan. 5, 1916 she and Robert F. Prouty were married. They farmed in the White Mound area until 1927, when they moved to Spring Green. Mr. Prouty died in 1961.
During Julia's life she had been active In church and civic affairs. Mrs. Prouty was president of the Band Mother s, the PTA, served on the library board, was a member of the Congregational Church and Ladles Aid, taught Sunday School classes, belonged to a Homemakers Club and was a member of the Eastern Star, once serving as matron of that order. Surviving are three sons, Merton of Chilton, Richard of Madison, and Robert of Tracy, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Enger of Theinsville, Mrs. Alice Norton of Santa Paula, Calif., Mrs. Florence Collins of Gowanda, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Florence Bingner of Spring Green; two brothers, Ted of Freeport, Ill., and William of Evanston, m.; 15 grand-children, and 13 great-grand-children.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 26 at the Congregational Church with Interment in the Spring Green Cemetery.

Cpl. and Mrs. Nicholas E. Ciraulo visited at the R. F. (Prouty home in Spring Green during a 10 day delay en route to his new post with the air corps at Salt Lake City. Utah. He and his wife, the former Florence Prouty. were married in Buffalo, N.Y. Sept. 18. Cpl. Ciraulo reported for duty Nov. 25. Mrs. Ciraulo will remain temporarily with her parents. Two other members of the R. F. Prouty family are in the armed forces.
A son. Sgt. Merton R. Prouty. is with the quartermaster corps at Camp Stoneman, Pittsburgh. Calif. His wife is the former Rita Fargen. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fargen, Hillpoint. Wis.
A son-in-law, Pfc. Neal Enger. formerly of Deerfield. Wis., is in the medical corps at Camp Barkeley, Tex. He and his wife, formerly Ruth Prouty, recently visited at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Prouty.

SPRING GREEN – Benjamin C. Carpenter, who was Town of Spring Green treasurer for many years, succumbed to
a long illness Saturday, April 27, 1968, in the Sauk Prairie Hospital. He was 68.
The son of Charles L. and Rachel Carpenter was born in the community of White Mound Oct. 16, 1899. Both before
and after his marriage, he worked for I.C. Evans in the mill here but most of his life he was a farmer, retiring 10
years ago when he moved to the village.
He was on the village election board for many years and at the time of his death was on the Spring Green Cemetery
board.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Lyle of Santa Maria, Calif.; and Paul of Spring Green; a daughter,
Mrs. Dean Olson (Carol) of Spring Green; two brothers, Ted of Freeport, Ill.; and William of Evanston, Ill.; two
sisters, Mrs. Julia Prouty and Mrs. Florence Bingner, both of Spring Green; and 16 grandchildren.
Rev. Paul Ray officiated at the funeral Monday at 2 p.m. in the Congregational Church. Burial was in the Spring
Green Cemetery.

Dorothy K. “Grandma Ben” Carpenter, Age 98, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Greenway Manor. She
was born on July 4, 1899, the daughter of Ajah and Grace (Davies) Young. She was married on September 7, 1927,
to Ben Carpenter. Survivors include: three children, Lyle Carpenter of Neenah, Paul (Betty) Carpenter of Plain, and
Carol Olson of Spring Green; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many
nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ajah and Grace Young;
her husband, Ben Carpenter on April 17, 1968; and two brothers, Roger and Gordon Young. Funeral services were
scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home. Burial will be in
the Spring Green Cemetery.

A pretty June wedding which took place yesterday afternoon was that of Miss Dorothy Farnsworth, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Farnsworth of Baraboo and Theodore Carpenter, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Carpenter of Spring
Green. They exchanged nuptial vows at two o’clock at the home of the bride’s parents at 317 Ninth street, the Rev.
James Verduin reading the ceremony.
Miss Alice Prouty of Spring Green, niece of the groom, and Ralph Farnsworth of Madison, brother of the bride,
were the attendants.
Immediate relatives were present for the wedding after which a reception was held and refreshments served, Mr. and
Mrs. Carpenter leaving later on a wedding trip for northern Wisconsin. On their return they will make their home in
Madison temporarily while Mr. Carpenter is attending summer school at the University of Wisconsin. After
September first they will be at Highland Park (Illinois) where the young man is a member of the school faculty
there.
Mrs. Carpenter is a graduate of the Baraboo High school, the Sauk County Training school and the Whitewater State
Teachers’ college. She has taught the past two years in Portage schools and prior to that in the Sauk county rural
schools for several years.
Mr. Carpenter is a graduate of the Spring Green High school and the Whitewater State Teachers’ college.

reads as follows: “The bride was charmingly attired in pink lace over rose taffeta and the groom wore a neat light
gray suit. The home was beautifully decorated with garlands of peonies and roses. Delicious refreshments were
served following the ceremony at a reception held for the couple.”

Mrs. Theodore (Dorothy) Carpenter, 1271 W. Logan St., died Friday afternoon in Freeport Memorial Hospital after
an extended illness.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Born Sept. 3, 1912, in
Baraboo, Wis., she was the daughter of William and Janet Farnsworth. She was married to Theodore R. Carpenter
June 20, 1938, in Baraboo.
She graduated from Sauk County School for Teachers and attended Whitewater State College.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Ann) Smith of Friendship, Wis., and Mrs. Dennis (Janet)
Wicks of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, David, of Freeport; three grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Farnsworth of
Madison, Wis.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Walker Mortuary. The Rev. George E. Jacobs of Faith United Methodist
Church will officiate.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Spring Green, Wis. Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Walker Mortuary. A memorial fund has been established for the church

Cornelia Jeanette Walter on December 16, 1919, in Carrollton. Illinois, the only child of Arthur C. and Florence (Green) Walter. Jeanette graduated from Carrollton High School in 1937. She graduated from  Brown's Business School in Jacksonville. Illinois, and worked as a secretary in the administration office of
the Freeport School District for many years. in 1941 she married Charles M. Roodhouse of White Hall,
Illinois. They divorced in 1977. In 1978, Jeanette married Theodore R. Carpenter who preceded her in death May 15, 2014. She enjoyed doing needlework, knitting. playing bridge, spending time at their house in Apple Canyon Lake and their trailer in Florida. Jeanette is survived by her children, Nancy I. One of the largest weddings to take place in this community for some time occurred Saturday, October 12th, at 9:30
a.m. at St. John’s church when Loraine Korback was united in marriage to Wm. G. Carpenter, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. Carpenter of Spring Green. Miss Korback, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Korback, also of Spring Green,
was given in marriage by her father.
Solemn Nuptial Mass was read by the Rev. Jos. Flad, Celebrant; assisted by Rev. Fr. McDonnell, as Deacon of
Mineral Point, and Rev. Fr. Sheridan of Darlington as Sub-Deacon.
The bride was attired in a white satin princess style gown with train and lace fingertip veil. Alice Korback, sister of
the bride, as bridesmaid, wore an old rose taffeta with blue lace headdress. Her other two sisters, Angeline and
Kathleen, maids of honor, wore blue net gowns trimmed with lace, with lace dubonnet face veils.
Little Carol Olson, niece of the groom, was flower girl dressed in white satin carrying a basket of flowers.
The groom had his brother, Theodore Carpenter of Freeport, Illinois, as best man. The ushers were Lawrence
Korback and Merton Prouty.
After the ceremony about seventy-five near relatives partook of a bountiful wedding breakfast served in the church
dining room. The room and tables were appropriately decorated with red, white and blue in observance of Columbus
Day. In the afternoon, a reception was held at the home of the bride for relatives and friends. The honored couple
received many useful and beautiful gifts.
Mrs. Carpenter graduated from the local high school in 1934 and from Platteville State Teachers College in 1938.
For the past three years she has been a successful teacher in the Lone Rock high school.
Mr. Carpenter also graduated from the local high school in 1934 and from Whitewater State Teachers College in
1938 and attended North Western University.
Those from away who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Korback, Greenwood, Wisconsin; Theresa
Korback, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Cowing, sons Clarence and Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Voss of North
Freedom; Mrs. Martha Ward, Reedsburg; Mrs. Orion Aiken and Harold Aiken of Platteville and a number of friends
from Lone Rock.
Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter will make their home in La Crosse where Mr. Carpenter is Commercial teacher…

2014 at the Greenway Manor Nursing Home in Spring Green, WI. She was born on January 9, 1917, in Spring
Green, WI, the daughter of Nicholas and Mary (Gorman) Korback. She was married on October 12, 1940 to William
George Carpenter. Loraine taught mathematics at the New Trier High School for many years and was a member of
St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. Survivors include 4 children, William (Mary), Mary Faber, Michael
(Mary) and Charles (Laurie), 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a sister, Kathy Thurber, nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Nicholas, 3 siblings,
Alice Aiken, Angie Parrish and Fr. Lawrence Korback. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday,
January 11, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with

He was associated with the Pillsbury Company of Minneapolis, MN from 1943-1945, then the Hormel Institute at the University of Minnesota until 1953 and finally employed as an Executive Director of the Distillers Feed Research Council in Cincinnati, Ohio until his retirement in 1978.

Myron obtained a B.S. degree in Animal Science at the University of Wisconsin in 1947 and received his M.S. in Animal Nutrition at the University of Minnesota in 1961. He served in the animal feed industry in several capacities from 1947 to 1983. He was chairman of the Nutritiona Council of the American Feed Manufacturers Association in 1970 and 1971. He was president of the Northwest Feed Manufacturers Association in 1973 and 1974. He traveled extensively domestically and internationally exploring new markets and new business opportunities. He developed and introduced new products in the feed industry and was vice-president of Peavey Montana Feedlots during the company's expansion era of the 1960s and 1970s.

Carpenter, Myron M.
Age 93, of Edina, passed away June 6, 2016.
Preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Louise and three brothers.
Survived by sons. Roger M. Carpenter, Dr. Fred W. (Colleen) Carpenter and Dr. Jay E. (Jana) Carpenter and daughter Janice L. (Michael) Close; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Myron will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, friend and an avid golfer, hiker, bridge player and historian.
Family and friends can celebrate Myron's life at a memorial service and gathering which will be held at Normandale Lutheran Church at 6100 Normandale Road in Edina, MN, at 2:00 pm June 17th.
