Bio: FORT EDWARD, N.Y. - Robert "Bob" D. Trainor, age 87, passed away on Friday, July 5th 2019 at his home.

He was born on August 1st 1931 in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert P. and Alice (LaFarr) Trainor.

Bob graduated from Fort Edward High School.

After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War as a Corporal.

On August 1st 1953, he married the love of his life Alice “Sally” Carpenter at the St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward, New York. They celebrated 65 years together and had four children; three daughters and one son.

Bob was a lifelong communicant at St. Joseph’s Church, where he served as a proud Usher.

For 37 years, Bob worked at Finch Pruyn as a Supervisor of the paper lab until his retirement in 1990.

Following retirement, he worked for Washington County, Wellers Auto Parts and as the Fort Edward School crossing guard.

Bob enjoyed golfing, sitting on his porch and the drum corps. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to their sporting events.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his infant sister; Alice Claire Trainor, and one great granddaughter; Etta Marel Beecher.

Rite of Committal will follow at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward, N.Y.

Bio: FORT EDWARD, N.Y. - Elizabeth "Jean" Carpenter) Matt, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31st 2017 at the Saratoga Center for Rehab in Sarataoga Springs, N.Y.

She was born on July 6th 1934 in Glens Falls, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Regner) Carpenter.

Jean attended Fort Edward High School.

On July 10th 1954, she married Elwin "Bud" Francis Matt at the St. Joseph Church in Fort Edward, New York. They spent 62 great years together until his passing on September 8th 2016.

Jean had a lot of fond memories working as a Teacher’s Aide at the Fort Edward Elementary School for many years.

Jean and Bud loved camping, traveling and going on long car rides and lunch dates when they could. She had a special love for casinos and slot machines.

Later in life Jean cared graciously for her ailing husband. Jean had a beautiful voice and was a great dancer, but she especially loved to Jitter Bug with her sisters.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was predeceased by eight brothers; John, Bill, Jim, Dick, Butch, Paul, Robert, and Joe Carpenter, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Arrangements by the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home on 82 Broadway in Fort Edward, N.Y.

Burial will be conducted in the spring at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward, N.Y.

Bio: FORT EDWARD, N.Y. - Elwin “Bud” Matt, 83, passed away on Thursday, September 8th 2016 at his home.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y. on July 28th 1933, he was the son of the late Louis and Gladys (Martin) Matt.

He attended school in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward before he left and enlisted in the United States Navy.

Bud served his country with great pride and honor from December 1951 to December 1955.

He was a proud member of the Fort Edward American Legion Chapter 1133.

On July 10th 1954, he married the love of his life Elizabeth Jean Carpenter at St. Joseph Church in Fort Edward, New York.

Bud worked at Great Meadow and Washington Correctional Facilities and retired after 25 years of service and held several different jobs in his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed his yearly fishing trips to Gloucester, MA. Bud had a great love for music. He was a self-taught musician of several instruments, and especially enjoyed playing the guitar with his Johnny Cash voice.

In addition to his parents, Bud is predeceased by his brother, William Matt and his wife Elizabeth “Betty” and their infant son, Daniel, and many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins from Hoosick Falls.
