Melisa Jean Cockrell and Christopher Todd Tripp, both of Greenwood, were married during a 3 p.m. ceremony Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenwood by Dr. John Setzler, church pastor. Wedding music was presented by John Cooper, trumpeter, Ms. Jane Craig, organist. Donna Ann Cox, vocalist, all of Greenwood, and Kelly Sheppard of Anderson, vocalist The bride is the daughter of Gene Cockrell of Ninety Six and Elaine Hudson of Greenwood. She is also the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cockrell of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Shirley of Hodges. The bridegroom is the son of Dale Trip of Fayetteville, Ga. and Nancy LaRose of Newnan, Ga. *** He is also the grandson of the late Carl Carpenter, Ms. Muriel Tanner Carpenter, *** and Mr. and Mrs. El-wood Steifel of Newnan. A 1987 graduate of Newnan High School, he graduated from West Georgia College in Carroll-ton, Ga. in 1993. He is employed with Fuji Photo Film, Inc. in Greenwood. Sandy Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., the bride's cousin, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Cherie Tripp of Newnan, the bridegroom's sister, Jennifer Leigh Ravencraft, Cindy Jefferson, both of Greenwood, and Mrs. Rhonda Roda of Ehrhardt Jena Tripp of Fayetteville, the bridegroom's sister, was a junior bridesmaid. Kelsey Lindley of Hodges, the bride's cousin, was flower girl. The bride wore a formal sheath gown of white silk shantung featuring a sweetheart neckline enhanced with pearl trim. Carl Carpenter rites held
Carl L. Carpenter. 61, of Tope Road, Slutrpsburg, Ga.. died December 26 while visiting relatives in Chittenango follow-ing the death of his brother. Harold H. Carpenter December 25. He was born Sept. 25. 1917 in Chittenango Station. the son of Roy and Amelia Gibbs Carpenter. He married Muriel Tanner. July 20, 1940.
He served in the Air Force as a master sergeant for 27 years. retiring in 1969. He served in World War 11 and the Korean conflict- He lived In Georgia since his retirement. He was a member of the F. and A.M. Sullivan Lodge and the Non-Com Officers Association. He was also a member of the White Oak Presbyterian Church. of Moreland, Ga.
Besides his widow. Carpenter is survived by one daughter. Mrs. Nancy Tripp. of Sharps-burg. Ga.. one brother, Robert Carpenter. of Chittenango and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at , the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Canastota, Sunday with the Rev. Ronald Hoffman. pastor of the United Church. of Canisters. officiating. Interment with full military rites was in Glenwood Cemetery. Oneida.
Mr. Carpenter is also survived by two grandchildren, Christopher and Cheri Tripp. both of Sharpsburg. Ga.
