This statement was dated 1846.  He represented the town of
Manchester in the state Legislature in 1842;  held the office of
Justice of the Peace for three years in ,RI, and the

MARRIAGE:  Alternate marriage date given in IGI: 13 Nov 1838 in Seekonk, Bristol, Massachusetts.  This would make more sense if it was 1828.  Other IGI records give Sep 1828.
AND of course I find in the IGI - 13 Nov 1828 13 NOV 1828   Providence, Providence, Rhode Island.

On a recent visit to Gloucester MA, I noticed a house bearing a plaque
that said "Osman Babson Carpenter," and then a date (about 1860).  Does
anyone here know who this Carpenter was?
