The Herald Palladium carried an obituary for Harold Carpenter on 13 Jul 1994 and it reads: "Harold B. 'Bucky' Carpenter, 71, of St. Joseph died Tuesday at Mercy Memorial Medical Center, St. Joseph. Friends may call at Kerley & Starks Funeral Home, St. Joseph, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and Thursday. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to Hospice At Home. Mr. Carpenter was born Aug. 1, 1922 in New Troy. He retired in 1985 from Whirlpool Corp., where he was employed as a fork lift driver in the shipping department. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 518 of New Troy. Survivors include his wife, the former Velma 'Marie' Trimmell; a daughter, Wendy Carpenter of Tampa, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Patricia Benson of St. Joseph; two stepsons-Michael Barker, of Stevensville and Timothy Barker, at home; a brother, Lawrence Carpenter of Three Oaks; two sisters-Ruth Beninato and Betty Klupp, both of Benton Harbor; and four grandchildren."
