32724. Alva Francis "Frank" Carpenter
John Mac Carpenter provided this family line via e-mail March 2004.
Excerpt from John Mac Carpenter's e-mail:
"Frank left home young, worked on the railroad, met William Cody, settled in AL, where he married my
grandmother, Emily Virginia Wiggins of Monroe County, AL. They had 8 children, all born in AL.
Mary Roxanna, named for an aunt, Mrs Alva Francis Carpenter (according to tradition) who later married Lorenzo Dow Fox and ended up in Biloxi MS, married Joe Williams, a geologist from VA.
Fidelia, who married first Lender Mobley (yes, a cousin of some sort to Mary Ann Mobley)
Felicia May, who married Newton Jack (or Jackson) Edwards from SC.
Clarence Calloway, Ancel's grandfather, married Maud Davis.
Alice Buna, married Walter Johnson.
Robert Clyde, married Edna ?, quarter mountain Crow.
Alva Carpenter, my father, married Ocie Velma McElhannon.
Ancel Carpenter, for whom Ancel the younger is named.
All of them except Robert Clyde and Ancel had children and have descendants who I know today.
Uncle Clarence probably has the largest number of descendants living since his son, Rayford, Ancel's father, married several times and had at least 11children, of whom Ancel is the second oldest.
Frank and Emily Carpenter left Mobile AL in 1910 for the territory of NM.
He owned and operated sawmills in AL and while he and his oldest daughter, Mary Roxana (Sana) were on a trip to Ciudad Chihuahua and to California in 1909 the land he had planned to harvest the timber from next, near Citronelle, AL, burned. He was supposedly in search of an uncle of his who was a storekeeper in a small town in Mexico a bit to the norht of Ciudad Chihuahua. I don't know which side of his family the uncle was on.......if
he were a Carpenter, it would probably be Uriah, b.1842 at Cameron, Steuben county, NY, since the only other uncle was Alvah for whom he was named and according to family tradition, a medical doctor in NYC.

Felicia and Newton lived on a farm near Anthony until they got too frail to stay there and they moved to Glenwood NM where their older son lived.

Jennie Sophia Blodgett Carpenter was the daughter of Dewitt Clinton Blodgett and Mary Jane Robinson Blodgett. She lived in Pierce County for her entire life. Jennie married Elmer E Carpenter 27 Aug 1895 in Pierce County. They reared 5 living children: Iva O Carpenter Michael; Opal Irene Carpenter Olson; Mary Minerva Carpenter O'Connell; Glen Leon Carpenter; and Frank E Carpenter.
Jennie had a heart of gold. Her door was never locked. She always had cookies for friends, relatives and neighbors. When I (her great granddaughter) was very young she gave me a music box that played "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home". No song could be more appropriate to show where Jennie always wanted to be found.
