Will Carpenter was a butcher. For a time he was involved with his father John, Uncle Silas, and son Frank, Uncle Duane William Carpenter, and James Daniels in a butchering business that involved five carts and delivery in the Chaumont, Lafargeville, and Watertown areas. Will made a will directing his debts and funeral expenses be paid. His estate consisting of 4 pieces of property to be held in trust by Nettie. At her death one piece of property was to be turned over to each of the three children with the hoe place on West Main being sold and the proceeds to be divided equally among the three. Nettie Alberta Bawler

COMMENT:
Bawler (Find-a-grave has Brawler and is incorrect).
Nettie was the adopted daughter of Henry Bawler and Roxalina (Roxy, Lany) Snyder from Victoria County Ontario. Born Nov 5, 1879 in Dalton, Victoria County (not Toronto). Per Megan Carpenter.
NOTE:
The Township of Dalton was a municipality located in the northwest corner of the former Victoria County, now the city of Kawartha Lakes, in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was named after Dr. John Dalton (1766–1844), an English scientist who contributed to the foundations of atomic theory.
Dalton had an extensive history in logging and colonization along the Old Monck Road (Kawartha Lakes 45). Several Ghost villages dot the former township, many of them old logging/farming communities from the late 19th century. These include Ragged Rapids and Dartmoor. Some have survived since the logging days and remain inhabited, including Sadowa, Sebright, and Uphill. Back then, one of the most picturesque figures of the municipal history of the township was Joseph Thompson who was reeve for a quarter of a century. Thompson was a great hunter and many legends had been handed down concerning his prowess in the wilderness.

40059. Iva May Carpenter

CENSUS: 1900 US Census - with parents and grand parents.
Ira is a male name but listed as a female in the census record! When I look at the census image, I believe the enumerator crossed out the first letter and placed a O above it.  This would make the name Ora a female name. But it could also be seen as an I. BUT ... her grave info indicates she was Iva May!
