This lady was called Aunt Laurie by Walter & Della Willey. Laura always wore a
black hat or bonnet. Laura was asked by Walter Willey to help him get a
delayed birth registration for Social Security purposes and she did, because
she remembered when Walter was born. From Steve Carpenter E-mail
" The family Bible that
Etta Mae has indicates that Creed was born 9-June-1845 and his parents
were Ambrose William Carpenter and Lidey Mae, and that my grandfather
Frederic Ambrose was born 17-April-1888 and his parents were William
Creed Carpenter and Susan Anna Frances Willey, Carpenter. Also great aunt
Laura Ellen Carpenter married my great grandfather John W. Brindle about
5-6 years before my Grandfather Fred and Grandma Della Brindle were
married. Etta Mae said that John and my Great Grandma Sarah (Galyean)
were divorced but I have not been able to trace her yet."
John Brendle has been previously married and had daughter Ardella Brendle, who
married Ambrose Fred Carpenter, brother of Laura Ellen. So Della Brendle
Carpenter was Aunt Laurie's step-daughter and when Della married Fred
Carpenter, Laurie was also Della's sister-in-law.
