She was the daughter of Oliver Harmon and Lucinda Markley. She married Dewey Carpenter in Berrien County, Michigan, on January 31, 1922.

Mrs. Rena Marie Carpenter, of Corbett, died at her home Saturday.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Bateman Funeral Home in Gresham. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Carpenter was assistant cook at the Meier & Frank Tea Room. She had been employed by the firm 19 years.
She was born in Wauseon, Ohio, in 1904, and came to Oregon in 1924.
Survivors include five daughters and one son: Mrs. Eldon Gilson, Lyons, Ore., Mrs. Don Daiber and Mrs. Don Schlavin, both of Portland, Mrs. Byron Pickering, Scotts Mills, Mrs. Curtis Smith, Corbett, and Leo Carpenter, of Lyons.
Also surviving are 30 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bio:
Chester Ray "Bald Eagle" Carpenter, 98, of Kewanna, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Friday at Life Care Center, Rochester. Born on Oct. 21, 1911, in Frankfort, he was the son of the late William and Jenny (Benge) Carpenter. On June 11, 1931, he married Edna Pearl Howell, and she survives.Mr. Carpenter was a farmer and an operating engineer for E&B Construction Co., formerly McMahan O'Connor Construction, Rochester. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 150, South Bend, and a member of Kewanna Baptist Church. He was also a member and vice chief of the American Cherokee Confederacy for 27 years. Chester enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived his wife, Edna Carpenter, Kewanna; two sons, Dale R. Carpenter, Kewanna, and James W. Carpenter and wife Patsy, Rochester; and two daughters, Joan C. McClellan and husband Roy and Linda S. Scott and husband David, both of Rochester. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Marion Frances Carpenter and Naomi Furnivall; son-in-law Donald Furnivall; six sisters; three brothers, one of whom was Chester's twin brother; grandsons Randy Furnivall and William Carpenter; great-grandson Vincent Wayne Carpenter Jr.; and great-great-granddaughter Liberty Bartrum.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kewanna Baptist Church, 414 E. Main St., Kewanna. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Pastor Demetriuis Anagnostu and Pastor Thad Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.
