Standiford of this place.  The accident occurred a few rods south of what is known as Fonda's corners, about three miles north of town, just as the car came over the break of the hill from the north.  Earl was riding a bicycle toward town and had turned out for a horse and buggy driven by Mrs. Robert Johnson. The Sandiford car was almost upon the rig before the driver noticed it, and in turning to the right to pass the rig, the big car struck the bicycle and rider.  The car was stopped and the boy was taken from between the wheels by Mr. Standiford, who rushed him to Dr. Funk's office, where it was found that he had sustained a broken collar bone and his lower right leg was broken in two places.  He also received bad bruises about the head and body.  He was removed to his home the same evening.  Although seriously hurt, we learn as we go to press that he is resting easily and unless complications develop he will recover.

The sign must have been wrong for members of the Bauer family, for Leo's cousin, Lester E. Bauer, a medical student at the U. of M., is carrying his right hand in splints, as the result of having his fingers broken while playing catch at the Alpha Kappa Kappa fraternity house.  The first ball he attempted to catch evidently had the "stuff" behind it, for this was the one that winged him.

Mary C. Brennan is a sister to Thelma's husband, John Brennen, but John's parents are given as Thomas Brennan and Catherine Delaney, and Mary's are Thomas Brennan and Catherine White according to her death certificate.  Perhaps Catherine's name was Delaney, then White, then Brennan, or some such combination, or the name Delaney is incorrect. More research is needed here.

Subject: Loretta Luttrull?
Dear John R. Carpenter:
My great great grandfather was Martin L. Blackmer. His twin sister
was Martha L. Blackmer, the wife of William Griffis (1833-1894). They
had a son, William T. Griffis, the husband of Edna Green. They had a
daughter (Harriett M. Griffis) who married Ernest Luttrull.

29117. M. Harriet or Hattie Griffis (William T. Griffis , William
Griffis , Betsey A. Carpenter , Robert , Robert , Christopher , Oliver
, Abiah , William ) was born on 19 Apr 1905 in Custer, Mason, MI. She
died on 9 Jun 1978 in Muskegon, Muskegon, MI.
I have a question for you regarding: 34152 F iv Loretta Luttrull.
I cannot find any evidence of Loretta Luttrull; however, Ernest and
Harriett (Griffis) Luttrull did have an unnamed daughter who
apparently was born and died on April 21, 1929 in Riverton Township,
Mason County, Michigan.
My question is do you think Loretta Luttrull was the baby that died on
April 21, 1929, or is she a child of Ernest and Hattie (Griffis)
Luttrull that was born some time AFTER the 1940 census?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated. However, I realize that
you may not be privy to all the research on the CarpenterCousins.com
website. Just thought I'd check and see if you had that bit of
information or not
Respectfully,
Jeff Carmean
