I also would like to share that my father Clarence Carpenter died 17 days shy of his 100th birthday on April 10, 2013 to be with my mother who passed 6 months ago.
Clarence was the grandson of John Draper Jr. Carpenter through son Henry who was killed by lightening in 1924.

Clarence H. Carpenter (1913 - 2013)
Clarence H. Carpenter, 99, of Hernando, passed this life April 10, 2013, to be with his wife, Lena, who predeceased him by six months. Clarence was born April 27, 1913, in Charleston N.Y., first and only son of Henry and Georgiana Montonye Carpenter. "Carp" was a glove foreman, Vrooman hotel owner, and a Sears manager in Gloversville, N.Y., for most of his life. Upon his retirement, they moved to Hernando to enjoy fishing, card playing, and family get-togethers. Carp sneaked out early to celebrate his 100th birthday with Lena. They are dancing in heaven.
Surviving him are six children, Carol (CJ) Warso, Smithfield, Va., Janis Stock, Highland, N.Y., Audrey (David) Eckert, Boise, Idaho; Pamela (Randy) White, Palmyra, N.Y., Robert (Sharon) Carpenter, Lecanto, and Bill (Crystal Ashe) Carpenter, Dunnellon; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
A special note of thanks to his Brentwood family, his Frank's family, and Uncle Fred.
The family is planning a memorial for a future date. Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness.

She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a niece and two nephews.
Lena lived in Johnstown, N.Y. after she married and was a Girl Scout leader and was feted as "Mother of the Year" in 1950. In 1962, Lena and her husband owned Vrooman's Hotel in Caroga Lake, N.Y. Lena was a hard-working partner in the hotel business, all the while raising six kids. In 1965, the family moved back to Johnstown until Clarence's retirement from Sears and moved to Hernando in 1975. She enjoyed yearly trips back home to see family for about 30 years. She loved her cooking magazines and cookbooks. She has been the best mother a family could have and is missed immensely. Rest in peace Mom. Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness.
