Bio: Alice Wing was born September 29, 1922 in the town of Baraboo to Floyd and Gertrude Carpenter. She passed away April 4, 2015.Alice graduated from Lyons State Grade School in West Baraboo in 1936, Baraboo High School in 1940, and Oshkosh State Teachers College with a bachelor’s degree in 1944. Alice worked at Bayers Bakery and Badger Ordnance in Baraboo while going to college.Alice married Frank Wing in her parents’ home in 1943. In 1946 they moved to Madison, their permanent home. The highlight of her marriage were her four children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.Alice taught elementary grades for 27 years at Washington School, Spring Harbor School, and Falk School in Madison. Students will remember her science unit, which included hatching and raising ducks and geese.Alice was very active in many things. She was a Boy Scout den mother in the 1960s. Alice helped lead trips to Europe, and loved to travel. She was very involved in Homemakers, square dancing, cake decorating, Round Robin from Oshkosh, playing the piano and organ, and choir. She raised pumpkins and sold them in the fall for Halloween. She was a block captain for the Meadowood Community Club for many years.Alice attended First Baptist Church for 67 years, where she sang in the choir, attended the group 60 Plus, and was a member of several committees and boards.Alice’s favorite getaway was her beloved chalet in Verona.Alice lived her last year at Brightstar Senior Living in Madison. It was a very happy time for her, and she made many friends. We’d like to thank the staff at Brightstar for sharing their love with her, and for her excellent care.Alice is survived by her two children, Randy Wing of South Carolina, and Jane Stam of Madison. Her grandchildren, Krystle (Adam) Gunter, Courtney Stam, Jeff Stam, Jason Wing, Layla (Brandon) Jenkins, Kira Russell, and Fabiana (Jeremy) Brock, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are her nieces and a nephew. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Floyd Carpenter, her sister Dorothy Schult, a daughter Debbie Russell of Georgia, a son Timothy Wing of Madison, and a niece Connie Schult of Watertown.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 518 N. Bio: Frank L. Wing, age 89, of Madison, died December 31, 2011 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. He was born and raised on a dairy farm in Sauk County. He attended U.W. Madison where he majored in Agricultural Economics and minored in AG Journalism. His college studies were interrupted by three years of service in the U.S. Air Force during WWII where he served in Spain and Guam. In 1949 he joined the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture as a radio supervisor. In this capacity he conducted a morning farm program over the state radio network. In 1955 he joined the staff of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation where he worked as the Director of Commodities. Through the years, Frank enjoyed his membership in Rotary International, West Towne Middleton where he served as president and was awarded the Paul Harris Award. He was also active in First Baptist Church. Frank is survived by his wife, Alice; two children, Randall Wing of Charleston, SC, Jane Stam of Verona; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Russell; son, Timothy Wing; his parents, Clarence and Mary Wing; and three siblings, Charles, Gordon and Marion Astle. We extend our special thanks for all the love and care given by the caretakers at Walnut Grove, Middleton and Agrace Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, January 6, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 518 N. Franklin Street, Madison with Reverend Mark Clinger presiding. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo following luncheon. Ruth (Prouty) Enger, age 80, of New Berlin and formerly of Spring Green, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 1998 at her residence. She was born on April 1, 1918 in Spring Green, the daughter of Robert and Julia (Carpenter) Prouty. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the New Berlin Senior Citizens and formerly was a teacher and librarian at the Steffen Middle School in the Mequon-Thiensville School District.
Survivors include: a son, Allen G. (Loretta) Enger of West Bend; a daughter, Jeanne K. (Kenneth M.) Price of New Berlin; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer and Nicholas Price, Michelle and Heather Enger; 2 brothers, Robert (Joyce) Prouty of Grand Island, Nebraska, Richard (Marlene) Prouty of Chetek, WI; many other relatives and friends.

Rita L. (Fargen) Prouty, 97, of Danville, a proud Irish Catholic, passed away on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2018.  A funeral service celebrating Rita’s life will be at 11AM, Monday March 26, 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1303 N. Walnut, Danville with Father Bowan Schmitt officiating.  A rosary will be at 10:30am Monday prior to the service at St. Paul’s.  Internment will be alongside her husband at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum in Manitowoc, WI.
   Rita was born at her family farm in Loretta, WI on June 11, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Dwyer) Fargen.  Rita was married to Merton R. Prouty of Spring Green, WI on January 31, 1942, and shared over 38 years together.  Her husband Mert served in the Army during WWII; consequently, Rita began her married life traveling to new areas of the country.  Prior to that, a rare 60 mile trip into Madison was the extent of her travels.  After the war, Rita and Mert returned to Wisconsin, living in Spring Green and Chilton.  They moved to Mountain Home, AK in 1975.  After the death of her husband, Rita moved to Danville.  She worked at Woodbury’s with her Daughter Linda for 20 years.  She was a dedicated volunteer for CRIS and USMC for many years.  Even into her 90’s, Rita could be seen walking to volunteer at the hospital and CRIS from her home.  She was a faithful member of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church for 31 years.  A devout Catholic often leading parishioners in the Rosary, and dispensing Holy Communion at the hospital.  More than anything on this earth, Rita loved her family; they were her life.
Rita is survived by her four children: Rita Jean (Jan) Jackson, Linda (Michael) Federman, Timm (Jane) Prouty, and Danny (Jennifer) Prouty; grandchildren: Dan (Debbie) Jackson, Robert (Michelle) Jackson, Mattew (Amanda) Jackson, Todd (Heather) Federman, Mark Federman, Lacey Prouty, Tyler (Kelsey) Prouty, and Mathias Prouty; Great-Grandchildren: Nate, Brayden, Zeke, and Zander Jackson, Kelli (Luis), Brian and Gina Federman, Alexa, Kortni, Brenson and Finn Prouty; Great-Great Grandchildren: Lylith Lorenzo; numerous Nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws Richard (Marlene) and Robert (Joyce) Prouty, and sister-in-law Mary Margaret Fargen.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law: Jan Jackson; Granddaughter Lisa Jackson; Grandson Nicholas Prouty; sisters:  Vera (Tom) Biser, Agnus (Francis) Dedrich, Margaret Fargen, Alice (Francis) Manion, Eileen (Charles) Ellefson, and Jean (George) Duren; brothers: Joseph (Eulalia) Fargen, LaVerne (Bud) Farge; sister-in-law Ruth Engar, Alice (Charles) Norton, and Florence (Dale) Collin.
Pallbearers will be Todd and Mark Federman, Mathias Prouty, Tyler Prouty, Mattew and Robert Jackson.
