Arlene E. Anderson, age 92, of Minneapolis, passed away with peace and dignity at home March 4, 2012. Preceded in death by husband Courtney, son Dennis, four brothers, one sister, and dear friend Joyce Peterson. Survived by son David (Jeanne), granddaughter Courtney (Jason) DaCosta, one brother, two sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended Kuzma family of in-laws.
Arlene was a member of the faculty and administration of Minnehaha Academy from 1945 to 1984, working as teacher, Dean of Students, Dean of Instruction, and Principal of Middle School. Following retirement she served as a Member and Chair of the Minnehaha Academy Board of Education and as Interim Director of Groves Learning Center.
Arlene was an active member of Crosstown Covenant Church for many years. Throughout her life Arlene was committed to love of family, dedication to friends, quality education and faithful Christian service. Private interment. Memorial Service Sunday, March 11, 3 p.m., at The Hognander Chapel, Minnehaha Academy Upper School, 3100 West River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55406. Fellowship time to follow. Memorials preferred to Minnehaha Academy or Crosstown Covenant Church.

Harry C. Carpenter, 90, of Cheyenne passed away at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on June 25. Harry Clifford Carpenter was born on Oct. 25, 1921, in Richey, Mont., the son of Harrison "Harry" and Nora (Sebastian) Carpenter. Harry (Cliff) attended Richey schools from 1928 to 1940. After graduating from Richey High School as valedictorian, he attended Montana State College in Bozeman, Mont., where he enlisted in the ROTC program. He then served in the U.S. Army until 1945. With a master's degree in chemical engineering, Harry came to the Bureau of Mines in Laramie. His research was mainly in oil shale. Harry retired in 1978 and worked as an energy consultant for several years following. Harry married Sarah Elizabeth (Beth) Lee on April 20, 1952, in Hanna. The couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Two daughters were born to the couple, Sarah in January of 1955 and Judy in October of 1956. Harry and Beth are proud in-laws to Dick (Judy) Cuthbertson and Jack (Sarah) Pope. Harry was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Cheyenne, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Laramie, Laramie Lodge No. 3 AF and AM in Laramie, Korein Temple in Rawlins, Alpha Chapter No. 1, OES in Laramie and the Laramie York Rite Bodies. Harry enjoyed reading, photography, gardening, travel and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grand-children. Harry is survived by his wife, Beth; daughters, Judy (Dick) Cuthbertson and Sarah (Jack) Pope; grandchildren, Daniel and Ian Walker, Joshua and Laura Cuthbertson, Abby Dodge, Jackson and Gabriel Pope; and great-grandchildren, Sadie, Lena and Charlotte Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Nora Carpenter; sisters, Ina and Pauline; and a brother, Ted. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Robert Lee Carpenter, age 93, died at Retsil Veterans Home in Retsil, Washington on Friday August 2, 2013. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Alderwood Community Church in Lynnwood, WA on Saturday August 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Internment will be at a later date at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome and should be mailed to Young Life, PO Box 520, Colorado Springs, CO 80901 or Washington Veterans Home, 1141 Beach Drive, Retsil, WA 98378.

Robert Lee "Bud" Carpenter
Former Buena Vista resident Robert Lee "Bud" Carpenter, 93, died Aug. 2, 2013, at Retsil Veterans Home in Retsil, Wash.
He was born June 26, 1920, to Frank and Florence Carpenter in Appleton, Mo.
When he was 7 years old, his family moved to Ellensburg, Wash., where he grew up.
Mr. Carpenter joined the U.S. Navy Nov. 12, 1941, and completed boot camp in San Diego, Calif. He served in the South Pacific on the USS Dunlap Destroyer No. 384 (escort duty), and was in Pearl Harbor by Jan. 13, 1942.
He contracted a serious skin ailment in late 1943 and was sent to various hospitals on the West Coast, ending up in Bremerton, Wash., where he met Virginia, his nurse. They went out on a Saturday night and were married Nov. 21, 1943 – just 1 week after they met. He was medically discharged from the Navy in fall 1944.
After taking the job as property manager at Silver Cliff Ranch in 1955, he moved his family to Buena Vista, where he eventually built a log home.Mr. Carpenter lived and worked around Buena Vista from 1956 to 1973. He and his wife moved to Spirit Lake, Idaho, to live near his wife's mother. There he worked as an appliance repairman until he was offered a job as property manager at Island Lake camp just outside Poulsbo, Wash.
In addition to his work and family life, at every place where he lived he was a gardener, handyman and spiritual mentor to many people.
Survivors include his wife; children, Dale Carpenter, Dean Carpenter, Judy Grear and Joyce Carpenter; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 17, 2013, at Alderwood Community Church in Lynnwood, Wash.
Interment will take place later at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to Young Life, P.O. Box 520, Colorado Springs, CO 80901 or Washington Veterans Home, 1141 Beach Drive, Retsil, WA 98378.

Virginia Joyce Carpenter, age 95, went to be with our Lord at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil, Wash. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015.
She was born in 1920 to Frank and Lilah Watkins.
She was a Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Navy nurse, dude ranch manager, best mother ever. She attended Alderwood Community Church in Lynnwood, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Robert L. "Bud" Carpenter in 2013. They lived in the Buena Vista area for 20 years.
She is survived by her four children, Dale Carpenter, Dean Carpenter, Judy Greear and Joyce Carpenter. She also leaves behind grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. on Thursday, Oct.15, 2015, at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in her honor (Virginia Joyce Watkins) to the College Scholarship, Deaconess School of Nursing Alumni Association of Spokane, P.O. Box 11242, Spokane, WA 99212-1242.

Alan Leon Carpenter, 86, of Kansas City, MO passed peacefully Monday October 21, 2013.
Alan was born October 6, 1927 in Harwood, MO to the late Leon and Sarah Ella (Murrah) Carpenter.
He worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass for 36 years, a Mason and member of Gashland United Methodist Church. Alan was a WWII Veteran in the US Army.
Survivors include his wife Maxine, children Sandra (Rodney), Carol, and Stuart (Jill); six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a brother.
Services were 2:00pm Saturday October 26, 2013, White Chapel Funeral Home Gladstone, MO. The family received friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Entombment White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Family suggests memorial gifts to Gashland United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Carol was a 1977 graduate of North Kansas City High School. She loved to travel, her music, her animals and spending time with family. She worked for Mondi Bags for over 36 years in their printing department. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Frederick P. Golubski Sr. and her father Alan L. Carpenter. Survivors include her son Fred, her daughter Jennifer, her mother Maxine, her sister, Sandra (Rodney) Maag,and her brother Stuart (Jill) Carpenter.
Carol is my cousin. She was a very strong and positive person. She battled cancer for 9 years but never quit fighting. She had a big heart and was very caring and always offered her help. I will treasure my memories of her always.
