Ralph T. Carpenter, Jr, 97, passed away April 3, 2015 in Surprise, AZ.

Ralph was born to Gwendolin and Ralph Carpenter, Sr. on July 5, 1917 in Sheldon, IA. He grew up on his fathers farm in Rock Rapids, IA. He attended the Metropolitan Business College for Industrial Science Agriculture studying animal husbandry and graduating in 1941 to work on the family farm, but the start of WWII would change his career path.

Ralph served as a Lt. Colonel in the Army Corp. of Engineers, completing his military service on May 21, 1946. During his military service he married his sweet bride Alice on April 3, 1943. At the time of Alice's death in 2009 they were married for 64 years. After the war ended Ralph would go on to work for the Bureau of Land Management, they raised a family and in 1976 he retired from BLM as a Supervisory/Management Analyst.

They would move to AZ shortly after that, living in Ahwatukee for awhile and then coming to Wickenburg, where in 1983, they built their home at the Wickenburg Country Club, overlooking the 18th hole. Ralph loved to golf and played as often as he could.

Ralph was pre-deceased by his wife Alice, their only daughter Terri Ann, and his brother Richard.

He is survived by his grandson Joshewa (Samantha Gray) granddaughters Bonnie (Abel) Castillo and Amanda (Ricardo) Torres, 1 great grandson Shawn and two great granddaughters Olivia and Abigail, and some extended family.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Wickenburg Cemetery on Saturday April 11, 2015 at 10:00am.

The Wickenburg SunWednesday, October 13, 1993Terri Ann Birchfield of Wickenburg died Oct. 5, 1993, in Wickenburg.  She was 36.  Mrs. Birchfield was born Nov. 19, 1956 in Washington, D. C., and had lived in Wickenburg for six years, moving here from Colorado.  She was a housewife and on occasion had worked at several local restaurants.  Mrs. Birchfield is survived by her husband, Troy, of Wickenburg; son, Josheua Hull, 6; daughters Amanda Hull, 7, and Bonnie Coash, 12, all of Wickenburg; parents Ralph and Alice Carpenter of Wickenburg; mother-in-law Mildred Birchfield, also of Wickenburg; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.  Services have been held, with interment at the Wickenburg Cemetery.  Jean McCoard officiated.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Terri Ann Birchfield Memorial Fund in care of Bank One, West Branch, Wickenburg.  Frey Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Bourbon-Ernest A. Field, 71, Rt. 2, Bourbon, died at 7:30 a.m. today in his home of a heart attack. He had a heart condition for several years. He was born near Rochester on June 26, 1896 and lived in Bourbon for 12 years, coming from South Bend. He was a retired Studebaker Corp. employee and a member of the First United Church of Christ of Bourbon; the River Park American Legion of South Bend, a veteran of World War I and served in the Army Transport Service during World War II. He is survived by his widow, the former Florence Wagoner, a son, Alfred Ernest, a junior at Indiana University, and a sister, Mrs. Guy (Grace) Cooper of South Bend. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Deaton-Beigh Funeral Home, Bourbon, with Rev. J. Paul Goebel officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Bourbon. Friends may call in the funeral home after noon Tuesday until services Wednesday.11

Evelyn “Boo” Tracey Carpenter passed away peacefully following a brief illness on March 22, 2014. She was 89 years old.
She spent most of her life in Corning, NY, but lived the last 10 years in Charlotte, NC with her daughter Kimberlee and their 2 dachshunds Meadow and Forest. Boo was an exceptional homemaker and devoted wife and mother. She had a passion for reading and Irish culture and enjoyed doing volunteer work. She will be missed.
She was the daughter of the late Patrick F. and Jesse Force Tracey. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Lynn A. Carpenter, infant daughter Patrice and sister Carole Tracey.
Boo’s survivors include two daughters, Tracey (Gerald) Stankosky of Fairfax, VA and Kimberlee Carpenter of Charlotte, NC; son LaMont Lynn (Kathie) Carpenter of Riverton, UT; grandchildren Kira (Daniel) Stankosky Seibel of Warrenton, VA and Jared Stankosky of Fairfax, VA; sister Helen T (Roswell) Crozier of Painted Post, NY, two brothers William Patrick Tracey of Coopers Plains, NY and Frances (Beverly) Tracey of Corning, NY.
By Boo’s wish, there will be no formal funeral service. A graveside service will be held at the Middlebury Union Cemetery, Kenneyville, PA.
