Subject: Carpenters
Hello John,
I read Francis Stoner's book on the Carpenters and She has these thirteen
children as Robert and
unknown wife's children. She has in the book that he than married Mary Ball and
third married
Christina.  He didn't marry Christina until 1839 and no children are noted for
Robert and Christina.
I still don't understand how he and any wife had two babies after he married
Mary Ball in 1812.
She only has children born to Robert and this unknown wife down to 1812. If
this is correct than the
first wife must have died in childbirth in 1812 and he married Mary Ball to
take care of the children he
and first wife had and this new baby. She has no child born after 1812 to the
first wife that is
unknown. The Will does name Christina as his wife that was made in 1839 same
year he married her
along with the childrens names but she was the third wife and had no children
according to Francis Stoner's book.

I don't think I have ever seen anybody have her surname on their list,
However, I am wondering if it was Mary Christina Ball instead of him
being married to two different women . Some have Christina as his first
wife and Mary Ball as a second wife and it doesn't make any sense to me
that this is true,so I am thinking the two names belong to same woman.
What do you think about this? The Will names Christina as Roberts wife
and Thomas Ball as one of the executors of the Will. The Will was
written in 1839,but they have him marrying Mary Ball in 1812. Which in
that year they have him and Christina having a baby. In 1824 Robert and
Christina had another girl named Margaret and yet they have him marrying
Mary in 1812. It all makes sense to me that her name was Christina Mary
or Mary Christina Ball.

THIS JOSEPH IS NOT THE SON OF SOLOMAN!  SEE BELOW!
The data is left here to provide correction for researchers!!!
Correct Parentage below.

BOOK: See page 42 (for notes) of the Mowrey 1997 book. See book information
below:  See also page 49 which refutes Joseph as the son of Soloman.
It indicates that this Joseph Carpenter was of German (Zimmerman)
ancestry and not of the New England Carpenters.  SEE NOTE BELOW!!!!

COMMENT:
This family reportedly moved to "Ohio River Territory."  The problem is that there was two (2)!
1) There was a Northwest Ohio River Territory in 1790 which became Indiana Territory in 1800 except for the area once referred to the Conn. Reserve which kept the name Territory NW of the Ohio River. The later became the State of Ohio.
2) The Territory South of the Ohio River in 1790 became the State of Tenn. in 1796 and in 1817 Miss. then in 1819 Ala. The two smallest and most southern portions go to the State of Louisiana in 1814 and a smidge to the future State of Florida.
