OBIT:
BARNESVILLE--Clement (Clem) Carpenter, 85, died at 8 P.M. Friday in aCambridge Hospital after a long illness.
He was born at Calais, Monroe County, Feb. 7, 1875 a son of Robert andMiriah Mercer Carpenter.  Mr. Carpenter was a member of the CalaisMethodist Church.
He was married to Elsie Goodhart,  who died Nov. 15, 1957.  Threechildren also preceded him in death.
He leaves three children,  Mrs. George Drake of Barnesville with whomhe made his home;  Mrs. Hort Wehr, of Henrysburg and Sherman Carpenterof Barnesville;  one step-daughter, Mrs. John Flood of Quaker City;16 grandchildren;  several great-grandchildren;  fivestep-grandchildren;  several step-great-grandchildren;  two brothersAlfred of Barnesville and Charles of Summerfield.
The body is at Campbell Funeral Home where friends will be receivedafter 7 P.M. Friday.  Funeral services will be at the funeral homeSunday at 2 P.M. by Rev. Fred Shiltz of First Methodist Church.Burial will be in Calais Cemetery.  Friday 15 April 1960 CambridgeJeffersonian.

BARNESVILLE---Mrs. Elise Goodhart Carpenter, 77, resident of 232 HuntAve., died at her home Friday at 12:30 P.M.
Born June 8, 1880, in Calais, she was the daughter of Daniel andHarriet Goodhart.
The deceased leaves her husband, Clement;  one son, Sherman ofBarnesville;  three daughters,  Mrs. Vera Flood of Quaker City,  Mrs.Fay Wehr of Henrysburg and Mrs. Beatrice Drake of Barnesville;  21grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren;  one sister, Mrs. OllieJefferis of Quaker City and an aunt, Molly Carpenter of Newark.  Threechildren are deceased.
The body was taken from the Campbell Funeral Home to the home of herdaughter,  Mrs. Drake at 239 Franklin St.,  Saturday afternoon andwill be returned to the funeral home Monday morning where serviceswill be conducted at 1:30 P.M.   Burial will be in Calais Cemetery.Saturday 16 Nov. 1957 Cambridge Jeffersonian.


1038. Victor Carpenter

Private First Class Victor Carpenter, who died Dec. 18, 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge escorted by T-4 Stanley F. Emory was brought to the Campbell Funeral Home Saturday evening for funeral and burial.
Young Carpenter, the son of Clement and Elsie Goodhart Carpenter wasborn Feb. 26, 1911 at Calais and entered the service Dec. 9, 1942.
Besides the parents, he is survived by three sisters and one brother; Mrs. John Flood, Quaker City;  Mrs. Hort Wehr, Jerusalem rural;  Mrs.George Drake,  Sherman Carpenter, Barnesville;  two great-aunts, Mrs.Mollie Carpenter, Newark and Mrs. Lavina Carpenter, Barnesville.
Funeral services was held in the Campbell parlors Sunday afternoon, Rev. Virgil C. Jump officiating and Barnesville American Legion Post 168 accorded him full military honors at the grave at Calais, where burial was made.
Thursday 4 Dec. 1947 Barnesville Whetstone.

BETHESDA--Beatrice L. Drake, 86, of Barnesville, died Tuesday (Feb.26, 2002) at Barnesville Health Care Center.
She was born April 4, 1915, in Monroe County, daughter of the lateClem and Elise (Goodhart) Carpenter.
Mrs. Drake was a retired seamstress and also from the former GreenCottage Restaurant in Barnesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Drake;  and severalbrothers and sisters.
She leaves a niece,  Mrs. Gerald (Garnet) Tracy of Bethesda;  anephew, Willis (Rosalie) Carpenter, of Beallsville;  threegreat-nieces, Mrs. Joe (Lisa) Douglass of Cambridge,  Mrs. Kim(Brenda) Carpenter of Bethesda, and Rhonda Edler;  two great-nephews,Glen and Steve Carpenter;  and two great-great-nephews.
Friends may call from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Friday at Kelly-Kemp-BradioFuneral Home, Bethesda, where services will follow at 1 P.M.  Burialwill be in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.  Thursday 28 Feb.2002 Jeffersonian.

BETHESDA---George C. Drake, 80 of Bethesda-Barnesville Road, Bethesda,died Monday morning (Oct. 21, 1991) at Barnesville Hospital.
He was born Feb. 8, 1911, in Monroe County, son of the late WilliamGarfield and Jenny Morris Drake.  He was a retired carpenter and postoffice employee and a member of Barnesville Main Street UnitedMethodist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Drake leaves his wife, Beatrice Carpenter Drake;  three brothers,Charles Drake of Barnesville; William Drake of Fairmont, W. Va., andCarl Drake of Bradenton, Fla.;  six sisters, Lillian Huntsman ofColumbus,  Florence Little of West Lafayette,  Edna Garvin ofLeesburg, Fla.,  Betty Eickelberry of Streetsboro,  KatherineEickelberry of Ravenna and Myrtle Hudson of Barnesville.

He was born at Calais, Monroe County, Aug. 16, 1881 to Robert and MaryMercer Carpenter and was married in 1906 to Pearl Walters whosurvives.
Besides his widow the deceased leaves one daughter, Mrs. John Pauls ofBarnesville;  one son Cecil of Lake Worth, Fla.;  one brother CharlesCarpenter of Summerfield;  two grandchildren and several nieces andnephews.
Mr. Carpenter was a member of the Elks and Masonic Lodges ofBarnesville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at Campbell FuneralHome by Dr. Byron Evans of Frist Presbyterian Church.  Burial will bemade in Crestview Cemetery.  Sat. 27 Aug. 1960 Jeffersonian.

539. Celestia Frances Carpenter

HISTORY:  
The family story is one of incest.  Celestia had a child with a relative.  However, if her parent line is correct, then the Y-DNA indicates no incest, but that he had a child with a descendant of the Providence, RI or Rehoboth, MA line.  Her father line, tested by others is a different Haplogroup from Groups 2 & 3.
AND I am finding hints that they have the wrong Celestia!
