Mrs. Gail Carpenter, who was taken to the state hospital at Columbusseveral weeks ago, died there Friday night just before midnight fromconvulsions.  She was only 28 years of age, and her untimely death ismourned by a wide circle of friends as well as her family.
Mrs. Carpenter was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Davis, one oftheir 12 children.  She was the wife of Greenberry Carpenter, and issurvived by him, her parents and the following brothers and sisters,Marion Davis of the home, William Davis of near Somerton, Clyde Davisof Somerton, Garland Davis of Akron, Cecil Davis of Lodi, Earl Davisof Shadyside, Mrs. Asfna Gatchell of Wellsburg, Mrs. Ethel Taylor ofLodi, Mrs. Hazel Phillips of near Somerton, Emmett and Bertha Davisare deceased.
The remains were brought from Columbus to the Steele Funeral Home atSomerton and services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock fromthe Somerton Methodist church of which Mrs. Carpenter was a member,conducted by Rev. M. LaFollette.  Burial was made at Somerton.

He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and a carpenterfor Smith Lumber Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Wood Carpenter, and 10brothers and sisters.
He leaves one daughter, Mrs. William (Betty) Stiles of Laurel, Md.;five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Oren S. Courson

Services for Oren Hebert Courson, 84, of Rt. 6, Newark, will be at2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Criss Brothers Funeral Home, withRev. N. L. Werteberger officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Mr. Courson died Monday in Licking County Hospital. He had been apatient there since he fell and broke a hip on March 13.
He was born March 3, 1883, in Franklin Twp., to Sylvester and RachelIrwin Courson.
A Franklin Twp. trustee for the past 26 years. He was a member ofJacksontown Methodist Church and Franklin Grange.
Surviving are his widow, Rosa Carpenter Courson, and a son, Herman ofRt. 3. He was the last of his immediate family. One brother is dead.Friends may call at the funeral from 2 to 4 and 7 to  p.m.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob H. Carpenter, on Oct.22, 1981;  two sons, Marvin and Bille Carpenter,  three brothers,Howard and Alfred Carpenter and an infant brother, Verdell Carpenter;eight sisters, Hulda Brown, Miriah Wehr, Ethel Dailey, Hazel Dailey,Mildred Brownfield, Mary Carpenter, Florence Carpenter and HelenCarpenter.

He was born Aug. 22, 1899, in Calais,  the son of the late Henry andAnnie Pierce Carpenter.  He was a retired construction worker andfarmer, and was a Marion Township trustee for several years.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Carpenter of Summerfield route 1, will be guests ofhonor at a reception given by their family from 2 until 6 p.m. Sundayat the American Legion Hall at Summerfield.  The affair is planned incelebration of the Carpenters'  50th wedding anniversary.
The couple was married May 22, 1920 in Monroe County.  They have sevenchildren, 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She lived in Rootstown since 1950 and she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, WilliamCarpenter, in April 1977, seven sisters and three brothers.
She leaves a daughter, Frances Gauer of Rootstown; a son CharlesCarpenter of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Alta Carpenter of Barnesville;11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Church of Christ,Summerfield, for Willie M. Carpenter, 74, of Ravenna, who died Fridayevening, April 23, in the Alliance Medical Center following a longillness.
He was born March 8, 1897 in Noble County,  a son of Henry and AnnaPierce Carpenter.  He was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Carpenter leaves his wife, Mary;  one daughter, Mrs. FrancesGauer, Rootstown;  three sons, Virgil Carpenter, Budd Lake, N.J.:Garfield Carpenter, Grand Island, Neb., and Lester Carpenter, NewMilford, O.;  two brothers, Jacob Carpenter, Summerfield and CarltonCarpenter, Quaker City;  10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.One brother is deceased.

Quaker City - Funeral services for Crumley D. Wehr, 66, of nearCalais, will be held Sunday at 1 P.M. in Calais Methodist Church.Minister J.V.A. Traylor, Woodsfield, will officiate.  Burial will bein Calais Cemetery.  Mr. Wehr died shortly before noon Thursday as theresult of a heart ailment.  He was the son of Richard and SarahHannahs Wehr and was born in Monroe County.
Surviving are a son, Eberts of near Quaker City; four daughters Mrs.Jessie Betts of Jerusalem, Mrs. Verna Carpenter and Mrs. Ellen Back ofLewisville and Carroll Wehr of Canton; 19 grandchildren; two sisters,Mrs. Mary Cleveland of Marietta and Mrs. Katie Wise of Summerfield andfour brothers, Joseph of Lewisville, Roy of Quaker City, Angus ofBarnesville and Hort of near Barnesville.
The body was removed to the Eberle Funeral Home where it will remainuntil Sunday noon when it will be taken to the church for services.

Mr. Carpenter leaves a son, Delbert Carpenter of near Saltillo;  abrother Alfred Carpenter; Lewisville;  five sisters,  Mrs EthelDailey, Lore City,  Mrs. Hazel Dailey, Summerfield,  Mrs. MaryCarpenter, Ravenna,   Mrs. Alta Carpenter, Summerfield and Mrs.Mildred Brownfield, Newark; and two grandchildren.

She was born April 8, 1897, in Monroe County, daughter of the lateCharles and Orilla Carpenter.
Mrs. Dailey was a homemaker and a 50 year member of Summerfield Churchof Christ.  Her husband Charles Dailey, died July 8, 1950.  Two sonsare also deceased, as well as five sisters and three brothers.
She leaves five daughters, Betty Wise and Mary Belle Larrick, both ofSummerfield,  Wanda Leach of Quaker City R.D. 1,  Virginia Tucker ofZanesville and Ila Hardesty of Belpre;  three sisters, Alta Carpenterof Summerfield, Mary Carpenter of Rootstown and Mildred Brownfield ofNewark;  23 grandchildren;  37 great-grandchildren and onegreat-great-grandchildren.

Charles Dailey

Charles Dailey, 59, Summerfield R.D. 2, died Saturday afternoon at St.Francis Hospital of a bullet wound in the right temple said by theNoble County Coroner Jack Berry to have been self-inflicted.  Mr.Dailey had been in poor health for some time.
His wife,  Hazel, told the coroner that Mr. Dailey had walked from thehouse carrying a .22 caliber rifle, about 11 A.M. Saturday.  Hestopped under a grape arbor adjoining the home where he conversed withMrs. Dailey although she was unable to see him because of the lowhanging vines.  When the fatal shot was fired Mrs. Dailey rushedoutside and found her husband lying under the arbor.  He was rushed tothe hospital where he died shortly after admission.
Services were conducted Monday at 2 P.M. at the Summerfield Church ofChrist in charge of McKinley Bates.  Burial was in Eastern Cemetery incharge of Brubach Funeral Home.
Mr. Dailey was a lifelong resident of Noble County and had been afarmer in this locality for a number of years.  He was born April 13,1891 in Monroe County a son of John and Pauline Stephens Dailey.
Surviving are his wife,  Hazel,  two sons, Herzel, Lewisville R.D. andJohn of Summerfield R.D.;  five daughters, Virginia, Lewisville R.D.,Mrs. Gilbert Larrick, Quaker City R.D., Mrs. Paul Wise, SummerfieldR.D., and Wanda and Ila of the home;  six grandchildren; a brotherW.B. Dailey of Freeport, and four sisters,  Mrs. Irvin Bates, Mrs.Oscar Carpenter, Mrs. Silas Carpenter and Mrs. Able Hayes all ofSummerfield R.D.  10 July 1959 Monday Cambridge Jeffersonian.

Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband,  William A. "Bill"Tucker, whom she married on Dec. 24, 1967;  and two brothers,  Herzeland John Dailey.

LONDONDERRY---Ethel Dailey, 90, of Lore City, died Monday (June 11,1984) at Guernsey Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 7, 1894, in Summerfield, daughter of Charles andOrilla Snyder Carpenter.  She was a member of Freeport Church ofChrist.
In addition to her husband, Benjamin Dailey, who died in 1968,  shewas preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Dailey leaves one daughter,  Mrs. Delbert (Della) Gattes of LoreCity;  one brother, Alfred Carpenter of Lewisville;  four sisters,Mrs. Hazel Dailey of Summerfield,  Mrs. Alda Carpenter of Summerfield,Mrs. Mary Carpenter of Rootstown and Mrs. Mildred Brownfield ofNewark.

Mr. Dailey died suddenly Thursday morning.
He was born near Calais, Noble County, on May 12, 1888, a son of Johnand Pauline Stephens Dailey.  He was a resident of the Londonderrycommunity the past 40 years.
He also leaves two sisters,  Mrs. Silas Carpenter and Mrs. Able Hayesboth of Calais.  One brother and three sisters are deceased.
