Last rites for Clyde J. (Casey) Carpenter, 57, of Marion, a formerQuaker City resident, were conduct at 1 P.M. Tuesday at the EberleFuneral Home at Quaker City.  Rev. Harry Mason was in charge andburial was made in Friends Cemetery.
Death occurred at 5:30 A.M. Saturday in Memorial Hospital, Marion,following a long illness.
Mr. Carpenter was born March 9, 1905, near Spencers Station, the sonof Bert and Tamer Carpenter.
He leaves a daughter Mrs. Gerald Christman of Quaker City;step-daughter, Mrs. Leota Carpenter of Barnesville;  one sister, Mrs.Mary Stevens of Somerton;  four brothers, Weldon Carpenter of Newark,Earnest and John T. Carpenter, both of Marion, and Herman Carpenter ofBarnesville.  His wife, Zella Mae Lucas Carpenter, died Aug. 25, 1949.Friday 18 Jan. 1963 Quaker City Home Towner.

QUAKER CITY--Mrs. Zella Mae Carpenter, 33, wife of Clyde (Casey)Carpenter, of this place, died Thursday evening in North WheelingHospital, Wheeling, W.Va.., after several weeks illness.
She was born in Noble County, Jan. 18, 1916 and was a member of theQuaker City Christian Church and America Legion Auxiliary.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs.Henry Lucas of Quaker City;  two daughters, Leota and Mary Ella of thehome, and the following brothers and sisters, Opal Wheel of Lore City,Rosie Nace of Barnesville, Icel and William of the home, Ira Morrisand Warren Lucas of Akron.  Two sisters and one brother are deceased.
Services will be held at Eberle Funeral Home Sunday at 2 P.M.  Friday26 Aug. 1949 Jeffersonian.

BARNESVIILLE---Mrs. Mary F. Stephen, 62, Somerton, died at 5:40 A.M.today (Saturday Aug. 16, 1969) in Barnesville General Hospital.
Born Dec. 10, 1906, in Quaker City,  she was the daughter of Bert andTamer Carpenter.  She was a member of Somerton United Methodist Churchand its WSCS;  Somerton Grange and the Somerton Fireman's Auxiliary.
On Aug, 18, 1926, she was married to Fred E. Stephen, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she leaves one son,  David of Somerton;three brothers, Ernest and John Thomas Carpenter, both of Marion andWeldon Carpenter of Hebron;  and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Campbell-Plumly Funeral Home from 3 to 9 P.M.Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Monday.

Fred E."Fritz" Stephen

BARNESVILLE---Fred E. "Fritz" Stephen, 90, of Somerton, died Monday(March 31, 1997) at Barnesville Hospital.
He was born Feb. 26, 1907, in Magla Township, Monroe County, son ofthe late Taylor and Magdelena Neuhart Stephen.
Mr. Stephen was a teacher, coach and principal for 42 years inSomerton Area School.  He was a member of Somerton United MethodistChurch.  He graduated from Somerton High School and earned a degreefrom Muskingum College.
He was a member of Ohio Retired Teachers Association,  Belmont CountyRetired Teachers Association and the Barnesville Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary F. Carpenter Stephen;his second wife, Inza Jackson Stephen;  four brothers and fivesisters..
He leaves a son David Stephens of Somerton;  two granddaughter, RoseGibson of Barnesville and Carla Seckman of Kipling;  two grandsons,Chris Stephen of Somerton and Matthew Stephen of Streetsboro;  sixgreat-grandchildren;  his best friend, Margaret Whitsell ofBarnesville.

Mr. Carpenter was born March 27, 1911, in Guernsey County, son of thelate Bert and Tamer Carpenter. He was a retired employee of PollockSteel in Marion.
Mr. Carpenter leaves his wife, the former Doris Johnson of QuakerCity;  two daughters, Mrs. Martha Dunn and Mrs. Lou Ann Bostic, bothMarion;  a brother, Weldon of Newark;  five grandchildren.
One sister and three brothers are deceased.

He was born July 17, 1908, in Belmont County, a son of William and LouNeptune Mayberry.
Mr. Mayberry was a retired operating engineer,  a member of VFW Postof Barnesville and a veteran of World War II.
His wife, Helen Carpenter Mayberry and two brothers preceded himdeath.
He leaves two daughters,  Mrs. Norman (Diana) Wehr and Mrs Jess(Beverly) Baker, both of Barnesville;  a brother, Clyde Mayberry ofRittman; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Warner of Barnesville;  fourgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A former Quaker City resident Emory Lester Carpenter, 44, diedunexpectedly Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock at the St. FrancisHospital, Cambridge, where he was an X-Ray technician.  Death wasattributed to a heart attack.
Mr. Carpenter and family left Quaker City just last November to maketheir home in Cambridge at 333 Woodlawn Ave.  The deceased was bornOct. 24, 1909 in Monroe County,  a son of Herbert and Nora BrownCarpenter.  Both parents are deceased.  He was a member of the MooseLodge at Barnesville and a former section employee of the B&ORailroad.
Survivors include his wife,  Mary Evelyn (Shipman) Carpenter,  who isemployed as a nurse's aide at St. Francis Hospital;  five children;Gene Allen Carpenter who graduated last year from Quaker City schools,Carol Ann Carpenter a junior this year in the local high school,Betty Lou,  Sandra Sue and Jimmy Ray Carpenter,  all of the home;  onebrother Ernest Carpenter and one sister, Mrs. Dale Mayberry, both ofQuaker City.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Eberle FuneralHome here,  tentatively set for 2 o'clock and will be in charge ofRev. Floyd Workman of Barnesville.  Burial will be in Calais Cemetery.Friday 28 May 1958 Quaker City Home Towner Quaker City Ohio.

Midge is survived by her three daughters, Terri (Chuck)Bethea of Traverse City, Cyndie (Michael) McKenna of Farmington Hills,MI and Tricia Anderson of Irving, TX; her grandchildren, Nicolette andLoukas Bethea, Courtney McKenna, Alexandria, Chase and ColtonAnderson; her siblings, Mervin Hannahs, Herm Hannahs, Myron Hannahs,Myrle Lyons; many nieces and nephews and especially Aunt Agatha Louwho never forgot to lovingly correspond at least monthly with Midge.Midge lived most of her life in Ohio, was a homemaker and worked inretail. BYESVILLE -- Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Black-Epperson FuneralHome, Byesville, for Herman I. "Jake" Hannahs, 78, of Pleasant City,who passed away Monday (Oct. 20, 2008) at Southeastern Med, Cambridge.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1930, in Calais, son of the late ForrestHannahs and Mae (Carpenter) Hannahs.
Mr. Hannahs was a heavy equipment operator for 40 years with Local 18Union Operators. He retired in 1992.
He was a 1948 graduate of Summerfield High School, and a Methodist byfaith.
He was a current member of the Point Pleasant Masonic Lodge and asocial member of the Buffalo VFW Post 8040.
He enjoyed golfing, gardening, fishing, hunting and trapping. He alsoenjoyed playing cards at the VFW. He was an avid fan of all sports,especially the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings,Gerald Hannahs, Roy Hannahs, Fred Hannahs, Midge Loukas, Ruth Craigand Toby Hannahs.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, a son and son-in-law.

Woodsfield, O.-  March 28--- Pvt. Roy Hannahs, of near Summerfield,has been wounded in action while fighting on the Anzio beachhead inItaly,  according to word received by his parents of Summerfield R. D.2.   Private Hannahs received a shrapnel wound on his face and is nowreceiving treatment in a Hospital.  His condition is not consideredserious.  A brother and sister are also in military service,  MissRuth Hannahs is a SPAR and is stationed at Washington D. C. and JohnHannahs S-2c, U. S. Navy, is stationed in Jacksonville Fla. as a radiooperator.  Tuesday 28 March 1944 Cambridge Jeffersonian.

She was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Barnesville,  daughter of the lateDallas and Amy Jane (Shepherd) Kupfer.   Mrs Hannahs was a homemakerand had worked at the Guernsey County Health Department.
She attended the Salesville Church of Faith and enjoyed spending timewith her children, grandchildren and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Keith Hannahs, who diedFeb. 11, 1993. They were married July 14, 1941. Also deceased are ason, Eugene Hannahs;  a great grand-daughter,  Bresa McCombs;  threesisters and two brothers.

MILLERSBURG -- Harry Roy Hannahs, 54, of Killbuck, passed away Monday(Sept. 1, 2008) at Wade Park VA Hospital, Cleveland, after a suddenillness.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1953, in Cambridge, son of Roy and Juanita(Kupfer) Hannahs.
Mr. Hannahs was a 1971 graduate of Zane Trace High School. He was aveteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1971 to 1975.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eugene Hannahsand Jim Hannahs, two nieces; his grandparents; and a brother-in-law,Herschel Lashley.
He leaves a friend, Pam Bailey of Killbuck; two sisters, Pam Poole ofTexas, and Sue (John) Landon of Killbuck; four brothers, Ronald (Rose)Hannahs of Barnesville, Danny R. Hannahs of Cambridge, Rick Hannahsand Mike (Cindy) Hannahs, both of Millersburg; several nieces,nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, whom he loved like his own.
