BARNESVILLE--Forest L. Carpenter, 74, Barnesville R.D. 1, died at 3P.M. Wednesday at Ohio Valley General Hospital, Wheeling, W.Va.
He was born Dec. 10, 1891, at Calais, the son of Milroy and MargaretCarpenter, and was a member of the Boston Church of Christ.
A retired school teacher, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Henry F.Mason, St. Clairsville, and Mrs. George Swallie, Barnesville R.D. 1;one grandson, James Manson, St. Clairsville;  one sister, Mrs. DeweyStephen, Barnesville; a half-sister, Mrs. John O'Brien, BarnesvilleR.D.; four brothers, Olive of Barnesville, Alonzo, Lewisville, Cecil,Woodsfield R.D., and Milroy, Beallsville R.D.;  and several nieces andnephews.  His wife, Rosa, died in May 1962.

BARNESVILLE----Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Carpenter, 67, ofBarnesville R. D. 1, will be conducted Sunday at 3 P.M. at theCampbell Funeral Home,  and burial will be in Crestview Cemetery here.
Mrs. Carpenter died Friday at 10:20 A.M. in Ohio Valley Hospital,Wheeling, W.Va.
She was born July 23, 1894, in Belmont County, a daughter of JohnThomas and Mary Gallagher and was a member of the Boston Church ofChrist.
Mrs. Carpenter leaves her husband Forrest L. Carpenter, whom shemarried Sept. 13, 1913,  two daughters, Mrs. Mildren E. Mason of St.Clairsville and Mrs. Norma J. Swallie of Mansfield;  four brothers,Lawerence and James Gallagher, both of Barnesville,  John T. ofBarnesville R. D. 2 and Wellington H. of Zanesville;  two sisters,Mrs. Oma Carpenter and Mrs. Elma Stephen, both of near Woodsfield;  ahalf-brother, Hila Carpenter of Barnesville R. D. and a grandson.

George Clesson Swallie

At a quiet ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, August twenty-fifth, athalf-past two o'clock, in the West Main Street Church of Christ,Barnesville, Miss Norma Juanita Carpenter was united in marriage withMr. George Clesson Swallie. Evangelist James W. Gallagher, uncle ofthe bride, officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest L.Carpenter, of Jerusalem, Route one, and Mr. Swallie is the son of Mr.and Mrs. Pearly Swallie, also of Jerusalem, Route one.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in astreet-length dress of Irish blue faille with a fitted bodice trimmedin rhinestones, and a full skirt. Over the bodice was worn a whitelace bolero. She carried out the traditional something old, new,borrowed and blue, and a penny in her shoe. Her jewelry consisted ofrhinestone earrings and a gold necklace belonging to her mother. Ather shoulder was a pinned a corsage of red rosebuds and baby's breath.
Mrs. Henry Mason, of St. Clairsville, served as matron of honor forher sister. Her dress was black and aqua crepe trimmed with seedpearls and rhinestones. Her corsage was of red and white carnations.
Mr. Henry Mason, brother-in-law of the bride served as best man.
The bride's mother chose a blue and white nylon print dress with blackaccessories, and a corsage of pink carnations. Mrs. Swallie was in ablue crepe dress trimmed in sequins and wore black accessories. Hercorsage was also of pink carnations.
A wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride's parents. As acenterpiece on the bridal table was the three-tiered wedding caketopped with a miniature bride and groom.
The bride is a graduate of Barnesville High School and is employed atthe Barnesville Manufacturing Company. The groom attended Barnesvilleschools and is employed at the United Dairy, Barnesville.

George C. Swallie, 86, of Boston (Belmont County), Ohio passed awayDecember 25, 2011 a Ross Heart Hospital Columbus, Ohio. He was bornNovember 2, 1925, son of the late Pearley and Mary Stephen Swallie.
George retired from Nichols Tree Services after several years ofservice, was a faithful member of Boston Church of Christ, and an avidsports fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,Norma Carpenter Swallie; brothers, John and Rodney Swallie; andsisters, Beulah Sall and Dorothy Copeland.
He is survived by nieces, Joann Williamson and Tina Miller; nephews,Don, Bill, Tim, and Steve Swallie; sister-in-law, Florence Swallie ofWoodsfield; and many cousins and friends.

A retired farmer, he was born June 12, 1895, near Calais, the son ofMilroy and Margaret Jane Lucas Carpenter and was a member of E. MainSt. Church of Christ and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post.  He was aveteran of World War 1.
Mr. Carpenter leaves his wife, the former Oma B. Gallagher;  onedaughter,  Mrs. Deveda Miller, Barberton;  three sons, Ronald ofBarnesville, Wesley of Cuyahoga Falls and Lawrence of Barberton;  18grandchildren, six great-grandchildren;  one sister, Mrs. SulaStephen, Barnesville R.D.;  one half-sister, Mrs. Kathleen O'Brien,Barnesville R.D. 3;  three brothers, Cecil, Woodsfield R.D.3,  Alonzo,Lewisville and Milroy (Babe) Carpenter R.D. 4.  One sister and twobrothers are deceased.

Mrs. Carpenter was born June 5, 1904, in Temperenceville, daughter ofthe late John and Armenia Mossburg Gallagher.  She was a member ofEast Main Street Church of Christ in Barnesville.  She was also amember of the VFW Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens, both ofBarnesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Carpenter,  who diedin 1970;  two sons, Wesly Carpenter and Ronald Carpenter;  fourbrothers,  Lawrence Gallagher, Bill Gallagher, Willington Gallagherand John Gallagher;  three sisters, Rose Carpenter, Elma Stephen andMary Ankrom; and three infant sisters.

A retired farmer Mr. Carpenter was born Jan. 14, 1898, in MonroeCounty, the son of Milron and Margaret Jane Lucas Carpenter, and was amember of St. John Catholic Church, Miltonsburg.
Mr. Carpenter leaves his, the former Celia Miller;  a half-sister,Mrs. John (Kathleen) O'Brien, Barnesville;  several nieces andnephews.  One son, six brother and two sisters are deceased.

Cecilia Anna Carpenter, 92,  33133 Skin Creek Road, Lewisville, diedSaturday Jan. 4, 1997, at Barnesville Hospital.  She was born nearMalaga, July 3, 1904,  a daughter of the late George and ElizabethReischman Miller.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church ofMiltonsburg,  where she was also a member of the Catholic Women'sClub.
In addition to her parents,  she was preceded in death by her husband,Alonzo Francis Carpenter;  a daughter,  Evelyn Lucille Carpenter;  andinfant son;  four sisters,  Edna Miller,  Lilly Miller, Hilda Taylorand Gertrude E. Stephen; two brother brothers,  Lawrence and LeoMiller.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.  including Mrs. Walter(Alberta Stephen) Ackerman of Lewisville,  with whom she resided.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home,  Tuesday 2 to 9P.M.  Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M.Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,  with the Rev.James M. Dunfee officiating.  Burial follows in St. John the BaptistCatholic Church.

A retired farmer,  he was born Aug. 2, 1896 in Monroe County, the sonof Milroy and Margaret Jane Lucas Carpenter and was a member of St.John the Baptist Church, Miltonsburg.
Mr. Carpenter leaves two sons, Bernard of Jacobsburg R.D. 1 and Paulof Bellaire;  six grandchildren, one great-grandchild;  two brothers,Alonzo of Lewisville and Cecil of Calais;  and a half-sister Mrs. JohnO'Brien, Barnesville, R.D. 1.
His wife, the former Victoria Butler, died in 1936.  Three brothersand two sisters are deceased.

The death of Mrs. Milroy Carpenter, occurred at her home near MalagaTuesday after an illness of several months.  The remains, in charge ofthe Steele Funeral Home director, were brought to their place on EastMain street for burial preparation.  Funeral service is being heldthis Thursday morning in the Miltonsburg Church,  conducted by FatherDreischer and interment made in the church cemetery.

Miss Katherine Carpenter, daughter of Mrs. Clem Carpenter, GobblersKnob,  became the bride of John O'Brien, son of Mrs. Blanche O'Brienof the same place, Saturday evening, October 11 at 5 o'clock in theCatholic parish.  Father Rudolph Wargo performed the single ringceremony.
Their attendants were Alice O'Brien, sister of the groom and JohnBosman, brother-in-law of the groom.
The bride was dressed in blue with black accessories and wore ashoulder corsage of red rose buds.  The bridesmaid was dressed inbeige with black accessories and a shoulder corsage of mixed flowers.

Kathleen C. "Kate" O'Brien, 86, Barnesville, OH, died Wednesday, March4, 2009 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab. She was born January 18,1923 in Calais, OH daughter of the late Milroy and Sarah (Bunting)Carpenter.
She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Catholic Womens Cluband VFW Auxillary.
She was preceded by 3 brothers - George, Raymond and Dean Snyder andsister Celia Stephen.
Survived by husband - John D. O'Brien; son - John A. O'Brien ofBarnesville, OH; 4 grandchildren - John R. O'Brien, Jeannie Hannahs,Julie West and Joni Carpenter; and 8 great grandchildren.

Summerfield news - E. M. Bunting, this place, was notified of thedeath of his son Arlie Bunting, 52, Jelloway, which occurred Thursdayin the Mt. Vernon hospital following a stroke of apoplexy.
He is survived in addition to his father by his widow and a son Johnat home, his mother, Mrs. Mary E. Bunting, Lewisville, and threebrothers, Oscar P. and Everson Bunting, Sonora, and Otto B. Bunting,Summerfield.
Funeral services will be held at Jelloway Sunday afternoon.

Everson Bunting, 57, a retired farmer, died suddenly Tuesday afternoonat his home on Sonora Rt.1, following a heart attack.
He had been in good health until yesterday.  a native of Monroecounty, he was born Aug. 30, 1892, the son of Elijah and MaryMcClelland Bunting.
Mr. Bunting spent most of his life in Salem township.  He belonged tothe Salem Methodist church.
Surviving are his widow, Cleo; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Hittle and MissAda Bunting of the home; two brothers, Oscar of Summerfield, and Ottoof Lewisville; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the SalemMethodist church.  Rev, George Willyard will officiate, and burialwill be in St. Paul's cemetery near Sonora.
The body will be moved to the residence Thursday morning from theShirer & Son funeral home, Adamsville.
