She was born Oct. 22, 1933, in Calais, daughter of the late Odie andOssie Carpenter.  Mrs. Riggenbach was a former employee of BarnesvilleHospital and Ormet Corp. in Hannibal.  She was a member of WoodsfieldUnited Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin and Vernon Carpenter;two sisters, Myrl Brownfield and Opal Crawford and three infantsiblings.

Summerfield - Earl J. Baker, 48, Lewisville R.D. 2, suffered fatalinjuries about 2:30 p.m. Thursday when he fell from a tower at theOhio Power Co. plant at Beverly.
Washington County Sheriff;s Department said Baker, a construction workforeman, was struck on the head by a piece of steel.  He was dead onarrival at a Marietta hospital.
Born Nov. 28, 1923, in Monroe County, he was a son of Amelia SchottBaker of Lewisville R.D. 2, and the late Herman C. Baker.
He was a member of Local 639 Labors International and had beenpresident of that local for 10 years.  Baker was also a member of St.Joseph's Catholic Church at Burkhart, the Summerfield Post of AmericanLegion and the Woodsfield Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Leach; a daughter, MissMarlene Baker, Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, Joseph of Kent and LarryDale of the home; his mother; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Brubach,Baltimore, Md. and a brother Roger of Massillon.
Friends will be received after 3 p.m. today at Brubach Funeral Homehere.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St.Joseph's Church by the Rev. Fr. Calabrese.  Burial will follow in Mt.Olivet Cemetery, Caldwell.
Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

QUAKER CITY---Roy Earl Leach, 76, of Quaker City, died Tuesday (Nov.28, 1995) at Barnesville Hospital.
He was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Calais, son of the late Ace and RebeccaCarpenter Leach.
He was an employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation for 20years, where he worked as a highway inspector. He was a member ofChristian Church and American Legion Post 415, Summerfield.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward.
He leaves his wife, Mildred Slemobski Leach, whom he married June 26,1945; two sons, Stanley Leach of Quaker City and John Leach ofCambridge; a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Carolyn) Chandler of Navarre; twosisters, Edna Stephen of Canton and Mary Baker of Lewisville; abrother, Rodney Leach of Massillon; five grandchildren and twogreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Leach; four brothers,Albert, Ed, Louie and Clarence Slembosky; and a sister, AliceSlembosky.

He was born May 19, 1924, in Noble County, son of Goldie Carpenter ofQuaker City R.D. 1 and the late Ottie Carpenter.  He was a school busdriver and a Beaver Twp. trustee.  He was an Army veteran of World WarII and a member of Batesville American Legion and Beaver BaptistChurch.

Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker, a member of St. Michael CatholicChurch, Carlisle, and a member of the Catholic Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman Thompson on April 5,1969; three brothers, Virgil, Lee and Woodrow Carpenter; and agrandson, Rick Dimmerling.
She leaves two daughters, Darlene (Marvin) Dimmerling of Summerfieldand Diane (Mick) Carpenter of Summerfield; a son, Virgil (Jane)Thompson of Summerfield; two brothers, Bay Carpenter of Louisville andRay Carpenter of Batesville; a sister, Ruth Betts of Barnesville; ninegrandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Service for Roman E. Thompson, 48, of Summerfield Route 1, who diedSaturday (April 5) will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Carlislewith Rev. Rudolph Wargo officiating.  Burial will be in St. MichaelCemetery.
Mr. Thompson, brother of Walter C. Thompson of 227 Hayes street, was afarmer and trustee of Stock Township in Noble County.  He had beenunder a doctor's care and had died unexpectedly at his home followingan apparent heart attack.
Born Jan. 2, 1921, in Noble County, he was a son of the late Josephand Christine Thompson, and had served as township trustee for 12years.
Mr. Thompson was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and its HolyName Society.
Surviving in addition to his brother, are his widow, the former EileenCarpenter; one son, Virgil of Summerfield Route 1; two daughters, Mrs.Darlene Dimmerling of Caldwell Route 1, and Miss Diane Thompson of thehome; two sisters, Mrs, Effie Willis and Mrs. Clara Journey, both ofNew Philadelphia and one brother Arthur Thompson of Summerfield Route1.

CAMBRIDGE, ILL.--Virgil L. Carpenter, 56, of Andover, ILL., husband ofMrs. Helen Stillion Carpenter, a former Cambridge resident, died at 6A.M. Friday (Oct. 21, 1977) at his home.
Born Feb 7, 1921 in Calais, he was a son of Mrs. Mary Carpenter andthe late William Carpenter. He was a veteran of World War II in theEuropean theater and received a bronze and silver star and apresidential citation for his service at the Battle of the Bulge inNormandy.
Mr. Carpenter was a member of American Ordinance Association andVeterans of Foreign Wars in Wilmington, ILL.
He was employed by the U.S. government for 35 years and had worked assafety engineer at Rock Island Arsenal since 1973.
On Aug. 9, 1941 he married Helen Stillion.
Mr. Carpenter leaves in addition to his wife and mother; one daughter,Mrs. Don (Judith) McGhee of Bolingbrook, ILL.; two sons, Kenneth ofAndover and Daniel of Cambridge, ILL.; one grandson; one brother,Charles of St. Simons Island, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Frances) Gauerof Rootstown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Lester.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 P.M. Saturday at StackhouseSchemerman Funeral Home, Cambridge, ILL.

He enjoyed playing music with his band, Stormin Norman and theThunder Clouds, playing cards, and watching sports and NASCAR.

Obituary:  Friday 18 June 1976 Times Recorder, Zanesville, Ohio
Billie M. Carpenter, 39, of Summerfield, Route 1, drowned Thursday inthe east fork of Duck Creek while attempting to rescue three of hischildren who had gotten into deep water, Noble County Sheriff's officereported.
Deputies said Carpenter and his family were fishing in the creek aboutfour miles south of Carlisle, about 3:30 P.M. when some of thechildren got into deep water and he went in to save them.  With theaid of Carpenter's wife the children were rescued, but Carpenter thenwas lost.
Born near Calais, July 24, 1936, he was the son of Jacob and AltaCarpenter of Summerfield Route 1.
Mr. Carpenter was an operating engineer for Bennoc Coal Company of St.Clairsville.  He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church atCarlisle and was a Navy veteran.  Surviving are his widow, the formerNorma Jean Miller; his parents; three daughters, Mrs. Dale (VickieLynn) Powell, Debra Ann, Kristy Lee, and three sons, James Allen,Thomas Edward and Scott Brian, all of the home; a grandson, DalePowell Jr. of the home; four brothers, Randall of 724 Spangler drive,Marvin of Canton, Edmund of Quaker City, and Norman of Kenosha, Wis.;two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Alberta) Gallagher of Quaker City and Mrs.Girdon (Nova) Stephen of Thornville, Route 1.

He was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Nobel County, son of Alta Carpenter andthe late Jacob Carpenter.
Mr. Carpenter, an Air Force veteran, retired from Timken RollerBearing in Canton after 32 years of service and was a member of NinthStreet Church of Christ in Canton.
