SUMMERFIELD---Richard DeLong, 63, of Woodsfield R.D. 3, died at 9:30P.M. Thursday (Jan. 25, 1979) at his home.
He was born in Monroe County on Feb. 14, 1915, the son of Mrs. JosieCarpenter Delong of Summerfield R.D. 1 and the late Joseph DeLong.
In addition to his mother,  he leaves his wife,  the former ShirleyHayes;  three daughters,  Mrs. Mary Ann Lykins of Fairborn,  Mrs.Darlene Starr of Barnesville R.D. 1 and Mrs. Josie Back ofBarnesville;  two sons, Joseph DeLong of the home and Charles DeLongof Lewisville;  eight grandchildren;  three sisters,  Mrs. Betty Batesof Cambridge,  Mrs. Beulah Hackerman of Lewisville R.D. 1 and Mrs.Dorothy Hannahs of Cambridge;  three brothers, Vance of Senecaville;Donnie of Quaker City and Guy of Salesville.  A son Lonnie isdeceased.

Shirley E. Delong, 92, of 32262 Harper Ridge Road, Woodsfield, Ohio(Calais Community) died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Summit AcresNursing Home, Caldwell, Ohio.
She was born at Calais, Ohio on December 2, 1916 a daughter of thelate Abel and Emma Dailey Hayes.
Shirley was a homemaker, farmer and member of the Calais Church,Calais, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,Richard Delong; one son, Lonnie Delong; two sisters, Olive Pierce andPearl Hannnahs; three brothers, Oather, Owen and James Hayes; aninfant sister and one great grandson.
Surviving are three daughters: Mary Ann Delong of Enon, Ohio, Darlene(Louis) Starr of Temperanceville, Ohio and Josie (Wayne) Back ofTemperanceville, Ohio; two sons: Joseph Delong of Caldwell, Ohio andCharles (Kris) Delong of Lewisville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 21great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces andnephews.
Friends will be received at the Brubach-Watters Funeral Home, 202 MainStreet, Summerfield, Ohio from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009.

SUMMERFIELD---Services for Cletis E. DeLong, 58, Lewisville R.D. 1,were held at 1 P.M. Today (Monday) at Calais Church, with burialfollowing in the Calais Cemetery.  Brucbach Funeral Home, Summerfieldhad charge of arrangements.
A well-know farmer and carpenter,  Mr. DeLong died unexpectedly at7:45 A.M. Saturday at his home following an apparent heart attack.
He was born Feb. 4, 1918 in Monroe County, the son of Mrs. JosieDeLong, Summerfield R.D. 1 and the late Joseph DeLong,  and was aSeneca Twp. trustee in Monroe County and member of the Calais Church.He was a veteran of World War II.

SUMMERFIELD---Margaert E. Delong, 86, of the Summit Acres NursingHome, Caldwell, formerly of Summerfield, went to join her dearest andmost talked to friend, Jesus Christ her Lord and surrounded by herloved ones at 9:55 P.M. Thursday (June 16, 2005) at the nursing home.
She was born Nov. 24, 1918, near Calais, daughter of the late Ross andAlice Hayes Carpenter.
Mrs. Delong was a homemaker and attended Calais Church, Calais, andalso First Baptist Church, Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletis Delong, on Nov. 13,1976; a son, Sam Delong; three sisters, Melissa Carpenter, EleanorCarpenter and Ildrith Coultas; four brothers, Raymond, Roger, Maywoodand Burdette Carpenter; and a grandson, Jamey Hall.
She leaves three daughters, Karola Housley of Caldwell, Becky Hall ofSummerfield and Rhoda Carpenter of Lewisville; a son, Dan Delong ofWinston-Salem, N.C.; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

1998. Beula L. Delong

WOODSFIELD---Beula L. Ackerman, 82, of Lewisville, died Friday (Sept.10, 2004) at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta.
She was born July 12, 1922 Near Calais,  a daughter of the late Jospehand Josie Carpenter Delong.
She attended the former Calais Elementary and High School.  She was afull-timer homemaker and housewife and a member of the Calais Church,where she attended her entire life.  She enjoyed embroidering gifts,reading, gardening and canning.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by threesisters, Helen, Dorothy and Betty;  three brothers, Richard, Cletisand Donnie;  and a granddaughter, Krista Ackerman.
She leaves her husband of 61 years, Edward H. Ackerman, whom shemarried Nov. 4, 1942;  four sons, Jimmy (Caroline) Ackerman ofDanville,  Junior (Sheila) Ackerman of Lewisville,  Phillip (Sally)Ackerman of Beallsville and Ben (Karen) Ackerman of Lewisville;  twodaughters, Mrs. Eric (Patricia) Dowler of Parkersburg, WV. and Mrs.Roger (Phyllis) Claus of Lewisville;  two brothers, Guy (Mona) Delongof Salesville and Vance (Rose) Delong of Byesville;  sevengrandchildren, Travis, Jason, Carey, Pam, Russell, Casey and Brittany;two step-grandchildren, Stacey and Missy;  three great-grandchildrenand 7 step-great-grandchildren.

Betty G. Bates, 72, of Cambridge, died Monday (Sept. 22, 1997) at thehome of her daughter in Federal Way, Wash.
She was born May 9, 1925, in Callais, daughter of the late Joseph andJosie Carpenter DeLong.
Mrs. Bates was active in senior citizen activities, the Golden 60's,Eagles and South Ninth Street United Methodist Church, Calais.  Shewas retired from March electric, Cambridge.  She was a 1943 graduateof Lewisville High School.
She will be together at last with her husband, Edward Bates, who diedin 1973; her parents, her sister, Dorothy Hannahs, and two brothers.
She leaves two daughters, Janice Riley of Federal Way and JoanneMeadows of Cambridge; three brothers, Guy DeLong of Quaker City, VanceDeLong of Sarahsville and Donnie DeLong of Quaker City; a sister,Beulah Ackerman of Sarahsville; eight grandchildren and fourgreat-grandchildren.

Mr. Bates died at 6:20 A.M. Wednesday (Jan. 3, 1973) in GuernseyMemorial Hospital, Cambridge, following a brief illness.

2000. Donald J. Delong

QUAKER CITY---Donnie J. DeLong, 69, of Quaker City went to be with hislord Tuesday (July 27, 2004) from The Ohio State University Hospital,Columbus.
Mr. DeLong was born on February 27, 1935, in Calais, son of the lateJoe and Josie DeLong of Calais.  He attend Calais Elementary andSummerfield High School.  Served his country as a Private Frist Classin the United States Army.  Mr. DeLong was an employee of the HamiltonBeach Company of Byesville.
His family was his life,  Donnie adored his grandchildren.  He enjoyedstaying abreast of Ohio State football and basketball.
Mr. DeLong attended Christ United Methodist Church in Cambridge.
Donnie will be watching to be reunited with his best friend and wifeof more than 44 years, Shirley, whom he married on May 21, 1960;  adaughter, Teresa (John) Neff of Quaker City;  three sons, Tim ofQuaker City, Todd of Charlottesville, Va., and Tony (Michelle) ofPleasant City;  three grandsons, Jonathan, Jonah and Joshua Neff allof Quaker City;  a granddaughter, Taylor DeLong of Pleasant City;  asister, Mrs. Beulah (Edward) Ackerman of Lewisville; and two brothers,Guy (Mona) DeLong of Salesville and Vance (Rose) Delong of Byesville.
In addition to his parents, his going home was preceded by threesisters, Helen, Dorothy and Betty; and two brothers, Richard andCletus.

Guy and Mona DeLong will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary onJune 5, 2004.
On June 5, 1954, Mona Stephen, daughter of the late Alex and ElmaStephen, and Guy DeLong, son of the late Joseph and Josephine DeLongwere United in marriage at the home of the Rev. J.V.A. Traylor ofWoodsfield.
John and Delores Stephen attended the couple.
The couple were both employees at the former Cambridge M.H. and M.R.Center.  Mr. DeLong retired after serving 32 years and 11 years atByesville IGA.    Mrs. DeLong retired following 36 years of service.The couple are members of Salesville United Methodist Church.
The couple have six children, David (Debra) of Senecaville, Douglas(Rhonda) of Cambridge, Darryl (Sandra) of Salesville, Darren (Kerry)of Cambridge and Dennis and Dayle of Salesville.
Completeing the family circle are nine grandchildren, Kevin, Dawn,Nicole, Dustin, Dominique, Karley, Taylor, Paige and Denise, and threegreat-grandchildren,  Haley, Chloe and Emma.
The couple will celebrate the special occasion during a dinner withtheir family in Amish Country.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home,Cambridge, for Guy DeLong, 77, of Salesville, who died Tuesday (March27, 2007) at Genesis-Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville.

Mr. DeLong retired in 1988 from the former Cambridge State Hospital,following 32 years of service as food department manager. He alsoworked at Byesville IGA for several years.
He was a member of Salesville United Methodist Church, VFW Post 2901,and Eagles Aerie 386, both of Cambridge.
He was a 1947 graduate of Lewisville High School and also a graduateof the Culinary Institute of Columbus.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Cletus andDonnie; and three sisters, Dorothy, Beulah and Betty.

Summerfield - Otis Martin, 64, of Caldwell Route 1 (Carlisle), former
custodian of Noble County courthouse in Caldwell died Thursday at hishome
of an apparent heart attack.
He was born July 27, 1911, in Noble County.  Mr. Martin was a farmer and
former school bus driver.
Surviving are his widow, Lola Morris Martin; three daughters, Mrs.Josephine
Ayers and Mrs. Verna Huffman of Caldwell route 1 and Mrs. Nancy Wehrof
Worthington; four sons, Kenneth Martin of Howard, Ohio, Roger of Caldwell
Route 4, Jerry of Caldwell and Terry of the home; two sisters Virginia of
Maryland and Della of Chicago; three brothers, Frank, Hobart and Arthur, all
of Virginia; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday in East Union United Methodist
Church.  Burial will be in Eastern Cemetery in Summerfield.

SUMMERFIELD -- Martha E. Stephens, 97, of Caldwell, passed away Sunday(Oct. 27, 2013) at her home.
She was born near Calais, on March 11, 1916, daughter of the lateJerome and Mable Carpenter Morris.
Mrs. Stephens was a homemaker and a member of Summerfield Church ofChrist, Summerfield. She was also a member of the VFW LadiesAuxiliary, Tuscon, Ariz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,William Clyde Stephens, on March 18, 1994; two brothers, Robert J.Morris and Racey Adair Morris; and two sisters, Lola Martin and MaxineSawyer.
Surviving are three daughters, Norma Jean Cline of Summerfield, LillieKeylor of Caldwell and Mrs. Mack (Sue) Buckenburger of Utica; one son,James William (Patty) Stephens of Caldwell; one brother, McKinley(Norma) Morris of Summerfield; two sisters, Grace Hannahs of QuakerCity and Janet (Roger) Christman of Baltimore; two sisters-in-law,Dorothy Morris of Summerfield and Ann Morris of Hilliard; 14grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 50great-great-grandchildren.

Vernon Hannahs, 44, of Quaker City, brother of a Zanesville resident,died Saturday at his home after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of the Quaker City area, he was born May 6, 1914,the son of Lod and the late Pearl Roe Hannahs and operated a farm.
Surviving are his widow, the former Grace Morris; four sons, Eugene of Sugar Grove, Brice, Bradley and Marion of the home; three daughters,Misses Genene Hannahs of Cambridge, Rosalie and Cathy Hannahs of thehome; his father, Lod of Summerfield Route 2; a sister, Mrs. DonaldSt. Clair of 532 South Gray street; an uncle, R. R. Hannahs of 723Faimont avenue; an aunt, Mrs. Friend Tuttle of 750 Findlay avenue; andseveral other aunts and uncles.
The body was removed to the Eberle funeral home in Quaker City.

SUMMERFIELD -- Services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday at SummerfieldChurch of Christ, Summerfield, for Robert J. Morris, 87, ofSummerfield, who died Sunday (Dec. 2, 2007) at his home.
Frank Love will officiate. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery,Quaker City. Full military graveside services will be conducted.

He was born Nov. 9, 1920, near Calais, son of the late Jerome andMabel Carpenter Morris.
Mr. Morris was a retired welder for Central Ohio Coal Co., following31 years of service.
He was a 60 year member of Summerfield Church of Christ, where heserved as a former deacon. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having servedin World War II.
He was a member of American Legion Post 415, Summerfield.
He loved to cross stitch, pick up cans and was an avid fisherman.
He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Martin and MaxineShroyer.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Carpenter Morris, whom hemarried Aug. 10, 1946; two daughters, Rita (Russell) Hodges and RevaBailey and friend, Richard Burns, all of Huntington, W.Va.; threesisters, Martha Stephens of Caldwell, Grace Hannahs of Quaker City andJanet (Roger) Christman of Baltimore; two brothers, McKinley (Norma)Morris of Summerfield and Racey (Ann) Morris of Hilliard; threegrandchildren, Reona (Matthew) McGee, Ryan Hodges and Roman Hodges;several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tim and Sandra Mooreof Summerfield.
