3510. Ray Edward McVicker

QUAKER CITY -- Ray Edward McVicker, 75, of Quaker City, passed awayFriday (June 11, 2010) at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, wherehe resided for the past 14 years.
He was born July 24, 1934, in Noble County, son of the late Edward andEdith (Starr) McVicker.
Mr. McVicker was a 1952 graduate of Old Washington High School. Heworked as a dairy farmer, school bus driver, part-time postal carrierand eventually retired from road construction.
He was a member of Quaker City Church of Christ, where he was a songleader. He was also a member of the Guernsey County Farm Bureau.
Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, farming andmaking homemade ice cream.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Carol Sue RichMcVicker on Sept. 6, 2008; and a brother, David S. McVicker inDecember 2009.
He is survived by three daughters, Theresa (Michael) Williamson ofLittle Hocking, Patti (Mark) Hamlin of Edmond, Okla., and Lori (Denny)Welfle of Norwalk; a son, Matt (Nicki) McVicker of Centerberg; asister, Alma Lea (Everett) Bates of Cambridge and a sister-in-law,Elsie McVicker of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Chance, Shelby,Elizabeth, Ashley, Shane, Riana and Cecelia; and several nieces andnephews.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday atThorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where services will be 11 a.m.Tuesday with Evangelist Flavil Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Friends Cemetery.  Sunday 13 June 2010 CambridgeJeffersonian Cambridge Ohio.

QUAKER CITY -- Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Thorn-BlackFuneral Home, Quaker City, for Carol Sue McVicker, 63, of Quaker City,who passed away Saturday (Sept. 6, 2008) at her home.
Evangelist Jeff Rich will officiate. Burial will follow in the FriendsCemetery in Quaker City.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeralhome.
She was born Oct. 4,1944, in Senecaville, daughter of the late Rex andPauline (Bates) Rich.
Mrs. McVicker was a retired school bus driver for East Guernsey SchoolDistrict, having worked there more than 20 years. She was a 1963graduate of Byesville High School, and a member of Church of Christ.
She was a lifelong member of the Farm Bureau, a loyal supporter ofBuckeye Trail High School athletics. She enjoyed crosswords, jigsawpuzzles, and collecting glassware.
She is survived by her husband, Ray McVicker, whom she married Oct. 2,1964; a son, Matt (Nicole) McVicker of Marengo; three daughters,Theresa (Michael) Williamson of Little Hocking, Patti (Mark) Hamlin ofEdmond, Okla., and Lori (Denny) Welfle of Norwalk; two brothers, Don(Erica) Rich of Marion and Carl (Janie) Rich of Senecaville; twosisters, Wilma (Raymond) Roe of Cambridge and Marylou (Tip) Black ofByesville; seven grandchildren, Chance, Shelby, Elizabeth, Ashley,Shane, Riana and Cecelia; special cousin, Melba Flood who helped toraise Carol as a child. Also several nieces and nephews survive.

3512. David McVicker

MANSFIELD - David S. McVicker, 77, of Mansfield, died Thursday (Dec.17, 2009) at MedCentral Mansfield, with his wife and children by hisside.
Born March 25, 1932, in Noble County, he was the son of the lateEdward L. and Edith L. (Starr) McVicker.
Mr. McVicker was a 1950 graduate of Old Washington High School. Hewent on to The Ohio State University, graduating in 1954 and enteringthe U.S. Air Force through the ROTC program. He served as a jet pilotinstructor from 1954 to 1959, honorably discharged as a captain. Uponleaving the Air Force, he returned to college to become a vocationalagriculture teacher. He taught two years at Union School nearMansfield. David then became Crestview High School's first principal.He earned a master’s degree from OSU in 1965. David served Crestviewas principal and superintendent. He moved on to become an assistantsuperintendent with Mansfield City Schools and Richland CountySchools.  He would retire in 1987 as superintendent of Richland CountySchools. He was a life member of The Ohio State University AlumniAssociation, Men's Garden Club, Friends of Wright-Patterson, BuckeyeAssociation of School Administrators, Ohio Retired TeachersAssociation, Richland County Retired Teachers, and the AmericanLegion.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elsie (Shugert) McVicker;daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Tim Nesbitt of Mansfield and theirson, Thomas; son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Jennifer McVicker ofMansfield and their daughter, Megan; sister and brother-in-law AlmaLea and Everett Bates of Cambridge; brother Ray McVicker of Caldwell;brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dean and Martha (Shugert) Shriver ofPleasant City; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kenneth and Sandra(Marks) Shugert of Old Washington; numerous nieces and nephews; andseveral cousins.
Private graveside services with military honors were conducted inMansfield Memorial Park on Saturday, Dec. 19.

4325. Brandon James Butler

BARNESVILLE--Brandon James Butler, 19, of Barnesville, died Thursday(Feb. 3, 2005) near Youngstown, as a result of injuries sustained inan automobile accident.
He was born Sept. 14, 1985, in Wheeling, West Virginia, son of Marvinand Lisa (Starr) Butler of Barnesville.
Butler was a graduate of Barnesville High School, where he was anhonor student and played football and track. He was a 10 year memberof the Barnesville Boot Scooters 4-H club and served on the judgingteam for four years. He was a member of Barnesville Main Street UnitedMethodist Church and currently attended Kent State University, wherehe was pursing a degree in architecture.
In addition to his parents, he leaves a sister, Lacy Butler of thehome; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Jeanette Baker Starr; paternalgrandparents, Vernon and Cinderella Stephen Butler, all ofBarnesville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 P.M. today atKelly-Kemp-Bradio Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services will be 11A.M.
