3618. Danny Lee Bates

CALDWELL -- Danny Lee Bates Sr., 58, of East Union, passed awayWednesday (Feb. 25, 2009) at his home.
He was born March 11, 1950, in Sarahsville, a son of the Alwilda IreneSorg Bates Ferguson and the late Ronald Wayne Bates.
Mr. Bates was a member of the Summerfield American Legion Post 415. Heserved and protected his country in the U.S. Navy, serving on asubmarine from 1968 to 1972 and in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1976,having served in Germany.
He was an employee of Spectra Energy for more than 31 years. Heenjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, raisinghorses and tinkering with electronic and mechanical items of any sort.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sons, Danny (Dana)Lee Bates Jr. of Colorado, Ronald Edward Bates (Sarah Browning) ofEast Union and Cory Evan Bates of Barnesville; one daughter, CristaDaneen Bates of Barnesville; three grandsons, Brandon Lee Bates andCyler Alexander Bates, and one to arrive soon; loving girlfriend, KayMcDonald of Summerfield; one brother, Wayne (Barb) Bates ofSummerfield; four sisters, Beverly West of Dayton, Becky (Tim) Rine ofArkansas, Brenda (Jake) Wells of Caldwell and Betsy (Kevin) Williamsof Summerfield.He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces,nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (Friday) atthe Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West St., Caldwell.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chandler FuneralHome Chapel with Evangelist Joshua Rine officiating. Services willconclude at the funeral home and a caring cremation will take placefollowin

BARNESVILLE - Herbert Lynn Starr, 58, of Barnesville, died Thursday,Dec. 29, 2005, at his home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1947, in Quaker City, a son of Edward andGeorgianna Brownfield Star. Herbert was retired from the U.S. PostalService working in the Barnesville Post Office for 30 years. He servedhis country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army and received aPurple Heart and a Bronze star for his service. He was a past AllAmerican Commander for District 5, and served as commander andquartermaster with the Barnesville VFW, he was a member of theDisabled American Veterans, Barnesville Elks Lodge and the BarnesvilleEagles.
In addition to his parents, Edward and Georgianna Brownfield Star ofBarnesville; surviving are a daughter, Angela (Chris) Pack; a son,Anthony (Julie Dowler) Starr; grandchildren, Alexis, Abigail andOlivia Starr, Ethan and Emma Pack, all of Barnesville; sisters, Judy(Jerald) Wise of Calais and Helen (John JK) Larrick of Cambridge;aunts, Bessie Bunting, Mary Lou Broomhall, June Hanson, LucilleDollison, Norma McCort and Waive Richardson; several nieces andnephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy G. Starr; and a twinbrother, Hubert Starr.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, at theKelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 702 East Main St., Barnesville, whereservices will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2005, with the Rev. GeneMiller officiating. Burial will be in Calais Cemetery with fullmilitary honors by Belmont County Council Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Judith A. “Judy” Wise, 69, of 52475 State Route 379, Woodsfield, Ohiopassed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Barnesville Hospital,Barnesville, Ohio.
She was born near Calais, Ohio on March 2, 1943 a daughter ofGeorgianna Brownfield Starr who survives of Barnesville, Ohio and thelate Edward Starr.
She was a homemaker and a member of the former Seneca Valley Church ofChrist near Calais, Ohio. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards,crossword puzzles, gardening, farming, and spending time with familyand friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, JamesEric Wise in 1986; and two brothers, Hubert and Herbert Starr.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband of 50 years,Jerald Wise whom she married on April 7, 1962; three daughters, JayneMcPeek of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Jorja (Jeffrey) Johnson of Cambridge,Ohio, and Jill (Lars) Johnson of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania; one son,John (Christina) Wise of Caldwell, Ohio; one sister, Helen (J.K.)Larrick of Cambridge, Ohio; ten grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 StateRoute 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2-8p.m. Monday where funeralservices will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Bill Pickenpaughofficiating. Burial will follow in the Calais Cemetery, Calais, Ohio.

SMITH, Timothy E., 47, of Baileys Mills, Ohio, passed away Monday,August 22, 2011 at his home. He was born June 11, 1964 in Barnesville,Ohio, son of the late Alfred E. Smith and Una M. Starr.
He was a welder helper on the Pipeline Local Union 798 and enjoyedmotorcycle riding, fishing, and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Christina (Lynn) Smith of 13 years; son,Wade E. Smith, two stepsons, Shawn E. Huntsman and Blake R. Huntsman;two brothers, Tyson (Anne) Smith and Terry (Sandy) Smith; nieces andnephews, Devon, Dalton, Victor, and Alaina; five aunts; one uncle;mother and father-in- laws, Dana (Butch) Huntsman and Raymond (Susan)Lynn; several other family members; and three good friends, RalphWhetstone, Robert (Bubba) Cline, and Dave Leasure,
Graveside services will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at Calais Cemetery,Calais, Ohio, with William Pickenpaugh officiating.
