GENETICS: Now Group 44
Two descendants of John Carpenter-30172 (chr 11 June 1651 at Holy Trinity, Coventry, West Midlands, Warwickshire, England) were Y-DNA tested, and they were both considered to be part of Group 98 of the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project. This is a non-matching group with a similar Haplogroup ancestry that is most common in Europe.
These two members tested were from this John Carpenter's son named John Carpenter-29654.
UPDATE: November 2025
A later more detailed genetic analysis revealed that instead of having a genetic distance of 9 (non-matching) that one member had special circumstances of one two-step and one five-step mutations that were related on opposite sides of the DNA Helix with one one-step mutation. One multi-value marker is separate.
This caused the mutation difference to be re-defined as a Genetic Distance of 4.3 putting it into the Probably Related range. Group 44 created.
Under ideal circumstances, another person should be Y-DNA genetically tested on this descendant line.
Please contact the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project administrators if you are a living biological male Carpenter descendant of this Carpenter line.SUBMITTER:
