Rena was the third of nine children born to Thomas Jackson Carpenter and Sarah E White. She was the first of the children in this family born in Arkansas. Her parents, both of whom were born in Tennessee, had removed from there to Murray County, Georgia, then in 1872 to Independence County, Arkansas. Rena moved from Independence County to Conway County at about the age of six with her family.
She was first married to Roy Alfred Fraizer. They had a son Johnnie "Jack" Leonard Fraizer.
In 1866 Rena married William Taylor May. They were the parents of 8 children, an infant, daughters Ada E, Willie A, Mary Josephine and Ida B, and 3 sons Thomas J, James Monroe and Preston.

"Funeral services for Mrs. Rena Josephine May, 78, who died Monday at her home in Washington, Ark., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the East Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dayton Castle--an will officiate and burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be O. W. Rum--y, W. R. Chalker, Lee Holt, Claude Bookout, Orin Rehkopf, and --an L. De Camp.
Mrs. May was born in Independence county, Arkansas. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian church.
Survivors include one son, J. M. May of Washington, and several grandchildren."

Lorena May Carpenter Ware departed this life Sunday, April 27, 2008, just shy of her 105th birthday at her home in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was born to her parents Owen Gideon Carpenter and Lillie Mae Hildreth Carpenter on July 18, 1903 in Gainesville, Texas. She married Bennie B. Ware on December 24, 1927 in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas and lived thereafter on a farm north of Abilene on County Road 501 (current mail box number is 5249B) until 1973 when Mr. Ware retired as a carpenter. They then moved to Grand Prairie to be near their children and grandchildren. Mr. Ware died in 1979. Mrs. Ware lived alone until two years ago when she moved into a house with her daughter and only within the last several months had failing health. She was a strong Christian lady in her life and in her values; whose motto was "always do the right thing". She is survived by two daughters, Ouida Mae Halbert and Linda Kay Burson of Grand Prairie; a son, Bennie Richard Ware of Oklahoma City; a sister Waurene Blurton and husband Jimmie of Grand Prairie. She is survived by four grandchildren: Teresa Jane Estep, Tina Lynn Ware of Oklahoma City, Lori Burson Tyler and husband Ty Tyler of Oklahoma City, and Jeffrey D. Burson of Dallas. She is survived by four great grandchildren: Chancellor Dean Hunter Estep, Chamberlain Blake Christian Estep, Channing Alexandra Claire Estep and Cristian Blaine Chandler Estep of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A private family memorial service and internment will take place at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to: Sunny Glen Children's Home, P.O. Box 1373, San Benito, TX 78586 or to the charity of your choice.

Graveside services for Lillie Mae Eatherly, 93, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Childress Cemetery with the Rev. John Givens officiating, and under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
She died Monday at Covenant Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 9, 1910, in Abilene and was a resident of Lubbock for 14 and a half years, moving from Childress. She married Fay W. Eatherly on March 14, 1933, in Elk City, Okla. He died in 1978. She was a 1928 graduate of Erick High School in Erick, Okla., and attended college in Weatherford, Okla. She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church in Childress where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Christian Womens Fellowship. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Eatherly and wife, Sharon of Plano, and Charles Eatherly and wife, Jane of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Kay Ann Whitten and husband, Gayle of Lubbock; a sister, Lorena Ware of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren, Kim Hipps, Kevin Eatherly, Karen Hoover, Michelle Kimbrough, Michael Eatherly, Melissa Assiter and Mark Whitten; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Helen Marie Carpenter Clark, daughter of the late John Wesley Carpenter and Lela Elizabeth Bone Carpenter, was born June 6, 1928 in Battles, Arkansas. She departed this life on March 26, 2010 in Batesville at the age of 81 years, nine months and twenty days. She was united in marriage to Harry Clark on November 3, 1946 in Sage. Helen and Harry owned and operated Clark Grocery Store and Post Office in Sage. Helen was a living wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved music and she sang at weddings, funerals and at the Homecoming gospel programs. Helen was a strong leader, treasurer and member of the Sage Baptist church.
Helen is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Ken Clark and Kelli of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter and son-in-law; Rose and Jerry Blankenship; four grandchildren; Heath Blankenship, Jason Blankenship, Loren Blankenship and wife Angie and Joshua Blankenship and wife Christie; two great grandchildren. Bennett Brice Blankenship and Carly Jane Blankenship. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry of 61 years and three brothers: Remmel Carpenter, Verne Carpenter, and Charles "Skip" Carpenter.
Funeral service was Monday, March 29 at 10 a.m. at the Sage Baptist Church with Bro. S.D. Hacker, Bro. Jim Black, and Frank Shell officiating. Burial was that the Melbourne Cemetery in Melbourne under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation was held Sunday, March 28 from 6-8 p.m. at the Howard Memorial Chapel.
Pallbearers: R.L. Carpenter, Joe Don Reynolds, David Carpentr, Mark Carpenter, Tim Carpenter and Alan Courson.
Honorary Pallbearers: Lois Hacker and Betty Dale.

Harry Junior Clark, age 87, of Sage died Wednesday, September 1, 2008 at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
He was born November 28, 1920 in Purcell, Oklahoma the son of Robert Harry Clark and Tennie Lee (Shannon) Clark.
He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He received a bachelor's degree at the University of Arkansas in 1952. He was postmaster at Sage for 35 years and owned and operated a grocery store. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Helen Marie(Carpeneter) Clark of Sage; son, Ken Clark and wife, Kelli of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Rose Marie (Clark) Blankenship and husband, Jerry of Melbourne; four grandchildren, Heath Blankenship, Jason Blankenship, Loren Blankenship and wife Angie, Joshua Blankenship and wife Christi; and one great grandchild, Bennett Brice Blankenship.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Sage Baptist Church with Bro. S. D. Hacker and Bro. Jim Black officiating. Music will be provided by Lois Hacker.
Interment will be at Melbourne Cemetery by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne. Pallbearers are Heath Blankenship, Jason Blankenship, Loren Blankenship, Joshua Blankenship, R. L. Carpenter and Joe Don Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers are Wesley Miller and Melvin Wamack.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Septmber 18.

CARPENTER, Fredrick �Ellis�, age 69 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at his home. He was a member of Carpenters United Methodist Church and was the retired owner of Hitch and Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred B. and Blanche Giffin Carpenter; grandparents, Melvin and Martha Carpenter and Dick and Bertha Giffin.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Sue Carpenter of Maryville; nephew and wife, Brad and Mystina Carpenter; niece, Debbie Carpenter; great nephews, Hunter Carpenter and Cordel Carpenter; fishing buddies, Grover and Bertie; special family friend, Al Romans.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Tucker and Rev. Gertrude Osborne officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Carpenters Campground Cemetery for the interment service.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Blount Memorial Hospice, 1095 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, TN 37804.
