FORT WORTH -- Lois Carpenter, 83, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in Watauga.

Graveside service: 11 a.m. Saturday, I.O.O.F. Westlake Cemetery, 3101 J.T. Ottinger Road, Westlake, 76262. Visitation: 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at J.E. Foust Funeral Home.

Lois was born Jan. 22, 1930, in Durant, Okla., to Wade and Lillian Barnett, the sixth of eight children.

She graduated from Keller High School. She married James Vernon Carpenter in 1947 and they were together for 44 years until his death in 1991.

She was also preceded in death by daughters, Cheryl Carpenter and Cathy Arthur; brothers, Roscoe Barnett, Lloyd Barnett, Melvin Barnett; sisters, Oleta Roe and June Barnett Rogers.

Survivors: Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Melissa "Mitzi" Carpenter Ponder and husband, Barry, of Fort Worth, Alana Carpenter of Watauga; son-in-law, Dan Arthur of Lewisville; grandchildren, Brandon Epps and wife, Christine, of Lewisville, Rachel McNeelis and husband, Jimmy, of McAlester, Okla., Preston Ponder of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren, Lindsay McNeelis, Kaitlynn Epps, Alex Dickey, Hunter Epps, Tiffany McNeelis, Colton Epps and Bradley Epps; sisters, Norma "Bobbie" Wiser of Hickory Creek and Wilma Counnis of Jacksonville, Fla.
