Ethel Carpenter, 75, of El Dorado, died Thursday morning, Oct. 28, 1993, at Friendship Manor. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Prospect Baptist Church. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 25, 1917, in Las Animas, Colo., to William H. and Annie A. Zang Thorburn. She was a homemaker and moved to El Dorado in 1950 from Fort Scott. She was a member of the El Dorado Moose Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church.
On April 27, 1935, she and George E. Carpenter were married in Lamar, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1963.
Survivors include daughters, Sheila Jernigan, Janie Daniels, both of El Dorado, Sharon Daniels of Savonburg; brother, John Thorburn of Manhattan; sisters, Ruby Bowen of Girard, Gladys Pulliam of El Dorado; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two daughters and one grandchild. Memorials are to the American Diabetes Association. Carlson Funeral Home has the arrangements.El Dorado Times - 30 Oct 1993

Donald L. Carpenter, 83, of Arma died at 1:45 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Arma Care Center in Arma.Mr. Carpenter was born March 8, 1924 at Fort Scott, Kansas the son of Lloyd and Jessie M. Welty Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter was a sheet metal worker who worked for Cessena, Beech and Helio Aircraft. He lived in the Arcadia-Arma area most his life. He was raised in Vernon County, Missouri and attended Missouri schools.
He married Margaret L. Bowles on Jan 18, 1947, at Fort Scott, Kansas. Mrs. Carpenter preceded him in death May 16, 2007.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Arcadia. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy in the South Pacific aboard the USS Macdonough. Survivors include one daughter, Debra Carpenter of Arma, three sons, Michael Carpenter and his wife Linda of Garland, Stephen Carpenter of the home and James Carpenter and his wife Roxann of Arma, one brother, Harold Carpenter of Nevada, Mo, five grandchildren, Brian Carpenter, Brad Carpenter and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Ruby Smith and three brothers, George, Bill and Floyd Carpenter.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Wed, Oct. 3, 2007 at Shiloh Cemetery near Oskaloosa, Mo with Dale Cummins of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kans. 66712.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Carpenter and his wife, Linda of Garland, Kan., Stephen Carpenter of the home who provided her care, and James Carpenter and his wife, Roxann of Arma; one daughter, Debra Carpenter of Arma; one brother, Lawrence Bowles of Fort Scott; five grandchildren, Brian Carpenter, Brad Carpenter, Jerime Carpenter, Courtney Carpenter and Jennifer Carpenter; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Wilma Rogers, Helen Carneal and Arta Mae Cox; and one brother, Harry Bowles.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 19, at the Shiloh Cemetery near Oskaloosa, Mo., with Dr. Dale Cummins of Cherry Grove Baptist Church officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m., to 5 p.m., Friday at the Bedene Funeral Home, Arma. The family will meet at the Arcadia Christian Church Bungalow following the service.
Memorials are suggested to the Franklin Community Center in care of the funeral home.

Stephen Lee Carpenter, 60, of Arma, Kansas died at 3:13 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015 at Via Christi Hospital, at Pittsburg, Kansas.Mr. Carpenter was born Sept. 23, 1954 at Nevada, Missouri the son of Donald L. and Margaret L. Bowles Carpenter. Stephen was a printer for FMI Forms in Girard for 40 years. He was raised in Arcadia and attended Arcadia Grade School. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1972. He lived in the Arcadia-Arma area all his life. Survivors include a sister, Debra Carpenter of Arma, two brothers, James (Roxann) Carpenter of Arma and Michael (Linda) Carpenter of Garland, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with Rev. Dale Cummins officiating. Burial will be at the Shiloh Cemetery near Oskaloosa, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bedene Chapel where friends may call after 11 a.m. on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.

Joseph Wayne Carpenter, age 84, of Laurie, formerly of Kansas City, passed away Wednesday evening, February 11, 2004 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
He was born January 9, 1920 in Arcadia, Kansas, the son of James and Dollie Bowen Carpenter.
He married Mildred McColm who preceded him in death.
Mr. Carpenter was retired from General Motors BOP Fairfax Plant and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, member of the North Shore Shrine Club, and the Adella Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by one daughter, Marie Archer and husband Harlin, of Springdale, Arkansas; two brothers, Paul Carpenter of Roseburg, Oregon, and Jerry Carpenter of Independence, Missouri; one sister, Wanda June Tilley of Pittsburg, Kansas; two grandsons, Tom Archer and Bob Archer, and one great-grandson, Evan Archer.
Funeral and Masonic Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 14, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie. Graveside services and interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 16, in the Liberal Cemetery at Liberal, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in St. Louis.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie.
