John Carpenter, 76, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2001, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 pm Thursday, November 8, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel; burial in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday at McGilley & Hoge Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Mid-America Chapter, 6811 W 63rd St., Shawnee Mission, KS 66202.

Mr Carpenter was born November 17, 1924, in Vernon County, Missouri. He was an Army veteran of WWII, and a member of American Legion Post 0370. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, square dancing and bowling. He retired from Johnson County Wastewater after twenty-eight years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Katharine Carpenter; four daughters, Patti Carr, Sharon Maisch, Sandra Carpenter and Linda Anderson; five grand-children, David and Scott Shelby and Jimmy, Jeffrey and Lisa Maisch; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne, Paul and Jerry Carpenter; and sister, Wanda June Tilley. Kay was born in Helena, Montana on October 1, 1928. She graduated from high school in Arcadia, Kansas then married the love of her life, Johnnie Velton Carpenter on May 18, 1947. At one time she was the secretary at The First Baptist Church of Overland Park where she was a member since 1957. She also worked as a proofreader for ten years at Deluxe Check Printers. Some of her favorite hobbies were sewing, quilting and reading. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband for many years after retirement.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Adaline Oxford; two brothers Ralph and Robert; and a sister Hazel Landrum.

Kay is survived by four daughters, Patti (Craig) Carr of Kansas City, Missouri, Sharon (Jim) Maisch of Overland Park, Kansas, Sandra Carpenter of Overland Park, Kansas and Linda (Tom) Anderson of Overland Park, Kansas, five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren who all loved her dearly. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Nursing Center, 20705 West 151st Street, Olathe, KS 66061.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Good Samaritan and Kansas City Hospice for their care and support in her final days.

Wanda J. Tilley, 80, of Pittsburg, KS died March 2, 2018 at Medicalodge Pittsburg.

She was born June 12, 1937 in Bronaugh, Mo the daughter of James and Dollie (Bowen) Carpenter.

On January 15, 1955 Wanda was united in marriage to Harlan Leroy Tilley in Nevada, Mo. They were married for 61 years, when he died in 2016.

Wanda enjoyed quilting, designing cakes, gardening, bowling, playing the piano. She owned Wanda’s Country Kitchen from 1978-1984. She was a packer at Pitsco for 15 years.
Survivors include her son, Steve Tilley and his wife, Tammy; daughter, Rhonda Robson and her husband, Eric; daughter-in-law, Pamela Tilley; brother, Jerrel Dean Capenter; five grandchildren, Liam Robson, Matt Tilley and his wife, Megan, Manda Tilley, Steven Tilley and J.R. Tilley; five great grandchildren, Ethan Tilley, Dasie Tilley, Hunter Tilley, Dakota Tilley, and Brooklyn Tilley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Danny; five brohers, Lee, Wayne, Ernie, Paul and Velton Carpenter; and grandson, Jayden Tilley.
Funeral Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday March 6, 2018 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. Burial will follow at Crocker Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Compassus. Services are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg.

Leroy Tilley 84, of Pittsburg, KS died 3:07am Friday November 4, 2016 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Pittsburg, KS following an illness.

Leroy was born September 16, 1932 in Arkansas the son of Charlie Floyd and Anna Murriel (Vanzant) Tilley. Leroy has lived in this community for the last 60 years.

On January 15, 1955 Leroy married Wanda June Carpenter in Nevada, MO; she survives at the home.

In Leroy's early years he worked as a truck-driver and later at Annshire Garment Factory in Pittsburg, KS. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Pittsburg, KS; enjoyed working for the sheriffs department as a reserve officer; loved motorcycles, Nascar, hunting and fishing. Leroy will be most remembered by his love of his family and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife; children Steve Tilley and wife Tammy of Girard, KS, Rhonda Robson and husband Eric of Pittsburg, KS; siblings Charlene Carrol of Memphis, TN, Retha Smith of Mountain View, AR and Larry Tilley of Jonesborough, AR; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, son Danny Tilley, brothers Billy Tilley, Guy Tilley and a grandson Jayden Tilley.

Funeral Services will be 10:00am Tuesday November 8, 2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Allan Parker officiating. Burial will follow at the Crocker Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Family will receive friends from 7-8:00pm Monday November 7, 2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; friends may call after 2:00pm Monday.

Danny R. Tilley, 56 of Mindenmines, MO died at 4:38 p.m. Sunday January 10, 2016 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

He was born October 2, 1959 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Leroy and Wanda Tilley. He lived his entire life in the Pittsburg area. He was a1977 graduate of Pittsburg High School.

Danny married Pamela Warner on May 3, 1992 in Pittsburg, KS; she survives at the home. They renewed their vows on November 23, 2013 at the Kansas City Temple.

He was a professional screen printer working 20 plus years for National Mills and most recently the past 10 years for Jock’s Nitch in Pittsburg.

Danny was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He did his janitorial duties and enjoyed passing sacrament all within the Church. He was an active member of the Osmond’s Club, attended and participated in numerous Walk-a Thons, enjoyed NASCAR (Dale Evans), the Kansas City Royals, was an avid
bowler, a model train enthusiast and enjoyed music particularly Rush, Journey, the Osmonds and the Oak Ridge Boys. He alos participated in the ACA Dog Shows

Survivors include his wife Pam of the home; a son Ralph “D.J.”
Warner and wife Faby of Mexico; 2 daughters Jenna Warner-Barnett
and late husband Kevin of California, Destini Martin and husband Tim of
Tennessee; his parents-Leroy and Wanda Tilley of Pittsburg; a brother
Steve Tilley and wife Tammy of Girard; a sister Rhonda Robson and
husband Eric of Pittsburg; Grandchildren Devin Shute and husband
Jeffrey, Jordan and Jolene Barnett, Brianna and Matthew Martin, Josie
Cass, Seirrah Seal, Williams, Ammann and Johannas Warner and a
great-grandchild Caleb Shute. He was preceded in death by his uncle
Billy Ray Tilley January 8, 2016 and his daughter Shellie Cass in May of
2009.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday January 16, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pittsburg with Bishop Grant Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Crocker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home in Pittsburg where friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Via Christi Cancer Center C/O Wanda Tilley. Memorials may be
brought by or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Gellender, Dr. Matthews, Via Christi ICU nurses and nurse’s aide and the staff at the Via Christi Cancer Center.

Danny was an amazing man and will be greatly missed by family, his friends at church and work and by his loving dog Lotus.
