Hannah Allen

PROBLEM:
We have two Yelvertons on record who died the same day and married the same Hannah Allen.
Which ancestral line is correct for the Yelverton Carpenters?  At this point I do not know, so I list them both. At least for now!

CENSUS: 1850 US Census - now a widow - She is living with son Wilson.

GRAVE:
Hannah Allen Carpenter
Birth: 1777 Randolph County, North Carolina, USA
Death: 7 Dec 1853 (aged 75–76) Hawkins County, Tennessee, USA
Burial: Carpenter Cemetery, Mooresburg, Hawkins County, Tennessee, USA
Memorial #: 237457539
Bio:
Born in Randolph Co. NC, to Samuel John Allen (1751-1834) and Hannah Cox (1751-1823)
who married 17 Dec 1775 in Guilford Co. NC.
Hannah married Yelverton Carpenter 26 March 1793 Pendleton, Northampton Co. NC.
(unsourced info, ks)
Pending confirmation Hannah is buried here; likely since she died just 5 years after Yelverton

2343. John Carpenter

NOTE:
This John was born 16 Jul 1811. He is listed next to Yelverton in the 1830 census, but the census taker marked the wrong column for his age. There is no way he would be head of his own household "Of ten and under fifteen". Especially since the only other person in his household is a female "Of twenty and under thirty". He should have been in the "of fifteen and under twenty" column. In the 1840 census he is two households away from Yelverton and his age is correctly categorized. He is living next door to his brother Wilson.
John's birth date is recorded in the Spradling family Bible and a copy of the page with this information is posted on Ancestry.com. Mary "Polly" Carpenter, sister of John and daughter of Yelverton, married James Spradling.
