Bio: Mary L. Carpenter, 84, died at 5:03 p.m. July 16, 2012, at St. Rita's Medical Center.She was born May 14, 1928, in Lima to Jason Daniel and Lillian Mae Murray Waltz, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 4, 1951, she married John H. Carpenter, who died July 2, 2001.Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker and had worked at Lugibill Florist, Columbus Grove. She was a member of Pandora Church of Christ, Pandora. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting and doing craft work. She loved spending time with and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include three sons, Louis Carpenter, of Lima, and Douglas (Sandy) Carpenter and Steven (Janice) Carpenter, both of Columbus Grove; two daughters, Lisa (Brent) Runkle, of Louisville, Ky., and Cheryl (Douglas) McBride, of Findlay; two brothers, Marion Waltz, of Waynesfield, and Calvin (Carolyn) Waltz, of Lafayette; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Carsen Carpenter; three brothers, Delmar, William and Ronald Waltz; and a sister, Irma Utrick.Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Robert Paul's Story
Robert Paul Carpenter, 86, formerly of Peabody, died on June 19, 2017, in Orlando, Fla. Bob was the son of the late Patrick Carpenter and Anita (Wilt) Carpenter. Bob was married to the former Mary Anne (Driscoll) Carpenter and shared close to 40 years of marriage prior to her untimely death in 1993.
Born and raised in Lynn, Bob served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army as a transportation specialist. Bob was proud of his military service and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. After his discharge, Bob and his father built many developments in Peabody, including Carpenter Street and Anita Road. He then went on to attend Northeastern University, earning a degree in engineering. Prior to his retirement, Bob worked as a painting estimator for H. Piken in Boston and M.L. McDonald Co. in Watertown.
Following the death of his wife, Bob retired to Florida where he married his second wife (Martha). He leaves behind his daughter, Maripat and her husband, Barry Osborne of Peabody; and son, Col (Ret) Robert M. Carpenter (Bobby) and his wife, Deirdre of Tampa, Fla. He also leaves four grandchildren, Michael Osborne and his wife, Marissa of Beverly, Kevin Osborne of Tampa, Fla., Kimberly Carpenter of Tampa, Fla., and Kyleen Carpenter of Tampa, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Reid Osborne of Beverly; along with many nieces and nephews.
Bob is survived by his brother, Bernard “Bernie” Carpenter of Coverdale, Calif.; his sister, Carole Chouinard of Georgetown, and was predeceased by his brother, William of Florida.
Bob was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with Bobby and Maripat managing his time to allow him to attend all their school activities and athletic games.
Bob was an avid golfer and a member of Longview Country Club in Lowell for many years. He also enjoyed bowling as a member of the St. Ann’s Bowling League. He was also a coach in the Peabody Little League managing the Cubs for many years.
His funeral Mass will held on September 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Church 140 Lynn Street, Peabody. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
